Synopsis

The ships are bigger now. The systems are smarter. The pilots mostly sit back and watch their instruments glow. But when a meteor punches a ten-foot hole through a two-million-ton liner, automation offers no comfort and no solution. 
“Patch” throws you straight into the command tower at Venusport, where a distress call cuts through the static and pride collides with necessity. Pop Gillette is the kind of pilot people build legends around. He lands his battered ship in ways no one else would dare attempt. He distrusts computers. He insults corporate liners. He lives on stubborn skill and nerve. When an All-Planetary liner calls Mayday, Pop has every reason to let them drift. Instead, he grabs a roll of tape, commandeers a cargo manifest, and steps into open space with hundreds of lives hanging in the balance. 
What follows is a rescue that feels impossible until it isn’t. The danger isn’t abstract. It’s measured in air pressure, mass, heat, and the brutal physics of vacuum. The problem is simple and unforgiving: seal a ten-foot breach in space before the ship becomes a coffin. The solution will depend on whether one aging pilot still understands ships better than the machines meant to replace him.
