Synopsis

According to the Preface: "It is observed by Mr. Pope, that 'If ever any author deserved the name of an ORIGINAL, it was Shakespeare. Homer himself drew not his art so immediately from the fountains of nature; it proceeded through AEgyptian strainers and channels, and came to him not without some tincture of the learning, or some cast of the models, of those before him. The poetry of Shakespeare was inspiration: indeed, he is not so much an imitator, as an instrument of nature; and it is not so just to say that he speaks from her, as that she speaks through him."

Gregory Leadbetter's first full collection of poems, The Fetch, brings together poems that reach through language to the mystery of our being, giving voice to silence and darkness, illuminating the unseen. With their own rich alchemy, these poems combine the sensuous and the numinous, the lyric and the mythic.

Ranging from invocation to elegy, from ghost poems to science fiction, Leadbetter conjures and quickens the wild and the weird. His poems bring to life a theatre of awakenings and apprehensions, of births and becoming, of the natural and the transnatural, where life and death meet. Powerful, imaginative, and precisely realised, The Fetch is also poignant and humane – animated by love, alive with the forces of renewal.
'The Fetch is a terrific, precise and dazzling collection. The whole book exemplifies a poetry of being that shows what is possible when we allow ourselves to be fully human in our perception and poetry.' – David Morley

'Oh, if you knew the lives we women lead
You'd understand the Devil is a catch.'
In this radical reimagining of the classic cautionary tale, Johanna Faustus makes the ultimate sacrifice and sells her soul to wrestle control of her own destiny. She travels through time and changes the course of human history, but can she escape eternal damnation?
Chris Bush's devilishly provocative new play is inspired by the works of Marlowe, Goethe and other versions of the Faust myth – and explores what women must sacrifice to achieve greatness, and the legacies that are left behind.
Faustus: That Damned Woman was co-produced by Headlong and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, in association with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and first performed at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in 2020 before touring the UK.

This is a mixture of other short stories and poems , dark, romantic and light themed read by the author and the Mortal Coil players
Good quotes from Stand and Deliver: In The Moonlight-
"Stand and deliver, your money or your life!" shouted the highwayman.
"I hear that you met a real highwayman the other day I wish I had been with you. They are so thrilling and romantic!"
"Hand over your loot! Either give it to me now or I will take it from your body!" Terrence the Terror said.
"I said give it back, Terry!" said Sir Justin.
"Tom your friend is a nut!" Mary said.
"What did he do murder the driver so he could drive the coach?" asked Sir Thomas.
"I bailed up the Terror and took your sister's stuff back as she was under my care!" said Sir Justin.
"New to this are you lad!" said one of them.
"Terry I think you killed him!" said one of the others he was the black-clad highwayman named the Ghost for his sudden appearances and disappearances.
"I just found her here, I was on my way to see you."
"I have never seen anything so beautiful! I could forget everything and live in this moment forever"
