Beschreibung

The Complete Illuminated Books of William Blake is a captivating compilation that showcases Blake's unique marriage of poetry and visual art, embodying his visionary imagination. This volume presents an unabridged collection of his illuminated works, characterized by intricate illustrations and innovative typography that breathe life into texts like Songs of Innocence and of Experience. Blake's style is distinctive, merging Romanticism with mysticism, creating a transcendent narrative that explores profound themes of humanity, spirituality, and the dichotomy between innocence and experience, all while employing a rich, lyricism that invites both contemplation and emotional resonance. William Blake (1757-1827), an English poet, painter, and printmaker, was largely unrecognized during his lifetime, yet he has since emerged as one of the foremost figures in the history of literature and art. Growing up in the bustling city of London, Blake's experiences of social injustice and spiritual yearning deeply influenced his work. His rejection of conventional artistic forms allowed him to develop a deeply personal mythology, which culminated in the creation of these illuminated books, embodying his intense vision of the world. This meticulously curated edition is a must-read for those interested in the interplay of language and visual art. Through Blake's works, readers will gain a deeper understanding of his radical ideas and an appreciation for the complex beauty of his art. This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
Asphyxia is a hauntingly lyrical novel that unfolds like a cinematic screenplay in parenthetical time and conditional mood. Told through the voice of Nefeli—a young woman observing her life on a mental screen—this work blurs the boundaries between memory, myth, narration, and madness. Set in a literary universe where authors are tyrants, muses are merciless, and reality is often just a rumour, the story follows Nefeli’s metaphysical descent into guilt, obsession, and poetic hallucination.
Through the echo of voices—narrators, poets, and ghosts—the book explores the invisible lives of the mentally fragile, those who vanish quietly between diagnoses and metaphors. With a cast of characters both archetypal and painfully human, Asphyxia is not a love story, nor a murder mystery, though it flirts with both. It is a philosophical narrative about stories themselves: who writes them, who performs them, and who suffers them.
Written by Tomazo Pagonis and originally crafted in Greek, this audiobook has been translated into rich British English by Marilu Pagoni. It is recommended for lovers of experimental fiction, metafictional narrative, and those who sense their own lives unfolding in parentheses.

The storm arrives, unbidden yet unstoppable, sculpting the world in reckless white. The north wind, a faceless mason, works without plan or patience—bastions rise, wreaths drape, roads vanish. No symmetry, no restraint, only the wild hand of winter shaping chaos into fleeting grandeur.
By dawn, the architect is gone. What remains is a frozen wonder, a masterpiece of whim and force, too perfect to last, too wild to be remade.

Alexander Pope was born on May 21st, 1688 in London into a Catholic family.
His education was affected by the recent Test Acts, upholding the status of the Church of England and banning Catholics from teaching. In effect this meant his formal education was over by the age of 12 and Pope was to now immerse himself in classical literature and languages and to, in effect, educate himself.
From this age too he also suffered from numerous health problems including a type of tuberculosis (Pott’s disease) which resulted in a stunted, deformed body. Only to grow to a height of 4’ 6”, with a severe hunchback and complicated further by respiratory difficulties, high fevers, inflamed eyes and abdominal pain all of which served to further isolate him, initially, from society.
However his talent was evident to all. Best known for his satirical verse, his translations of Homer and the use of the heroic couplet, he is the second-most frequently quoted writer in The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, after Shakespeare.
With the publication of Pastorals in 1709 followed by An Essay on Criticism (1711) and his most famous work The Rape of the Lock (1712; revised and enlarged in 1714) Pope became not only famous but wealthy.
His translations of the Iliad and the Odyssey further enhanced both reputation and purse. His engagement to produce an opulent new edition of Shakespeare met with a mixed reception. Pope attempted to "regularise" Shakespeare's metre and rewrote some of his verse and cut 1500 lines, that Pope considered to be beneath the Bard’s standard, to mere footnotes.
Alexander Pope died on May 30th, 1744 at his villa at Twickenham (where he created his famous grotto and gardens) and was buried in the nave of the nearby Church of England Church of St Mary the Virgin.
Over the years and centuries since his death Pope’s work has been in and out of favour but with this distance he is now truly recognised as one of England’s greatest poets.
