  Mark Akenside (1721–1770) was a medical doctor and literary man whose influence on the history of ideas was profound.
  Born the son of a butcher in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1721 Mark Akenside was awarded a degree in medicine from Edinburgh and Leyden Universities. He settled in London in 1743 where he was successful both as a doctor and in medical research. Above all, he was the author of The Pleasures of Imagination1744, an epic length poem in blank verse which broke many conventions of the time, exploring ideas about human perception and the natural world.
  Akenside had a European reputation and became a national celebrity. He was a major influence on first- and second-generation Romantic poets such as Wordsworth, Keats, Coleridge, etc. He also made an impact on the development of landscape painting in the early 19th century through his influence on J.M.W. Turner.
  This book examines these issues, as well as the controversy and speculation about Akenside's relationship with his origins, his sexuality, and changing political affiliations in a period of economic crisis and great social change.

  Sonali Bhattacharyya's play King Troll (The Fawn) is a dark and dystopian exploration of migrant experiences in all their complexity – and the troll that lives within all of us, whispering 'me, not us', and definitely 'me first'.   This audiobook contains what I call my “Africanesque Folktales”. They appear in my audio and print book “Remembering Your Ancestral Fire” and are all original compositions of mine. My teacher, Grand Master Drummer Mamady Keïta said about them, quote: 
  “Taylor’s folktales draw from his experiences with me and his times in Africa. They contain the stuff of folktales of old. They are a wonderful interpretation of African tradition.” All of my stories are sourced from my decades of study with the djembe, my teachers, especially Mamady Keïta, and my numerous times traveling to Guinea, West Africa. The names are based on a 
  ctual people I’ve known or heard of; the places, on actual places. The sounds you hear in the village were field recordings I did when I was there. I have and continue to create these Africanesque folktales, but there is a trilogy I created that represent origin, duality and plurality, which are presented in this short audiobook.
