"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is one of the best-known stories written by American author Washington Irving. Set in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, New York, in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow, it tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lanky and superstitious schoolmaster. Crane is enamored with the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel but must contend with a rival suitor, Brom Bones. After attending a party at Katrina's home, Crane encounters the ghostly figure of the Headless Horseman, rumored to be the ghost of a Hessian soldier who lost his head in battle and now roams the area.
