Beschreibung

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a gothic story by American author Washington Irving, contained in his collection of 34 essays and short stories titled The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. Written while Irving was living abroad in Birmingham, England, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" was first published in 1819.

Along with Irving's companion piece Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is among the earliest examples of American fiction with enduring popularity, especially during Halloween because of a character known as the Headless Horseman believed to be a Hessian soldier who was decapitated by a cannonball in battle. In 1949, the second film adaptation was produced by Walt Disney as one of two segments in the package film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

The story is set in 1790 in the countryside around the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (historical Tarrytown, New York), in a secluded glen known as Sleepy Hollow. Sleepy Hollow is renowned for its ghosts and the haunting atmosphere that pervades the imaginations of its inhabitants and visitors.

Some residents say this town was bewitched during the early days of the Dutch settlement, while others claim that the mysterious atmosphere was caused by an old Native American chief, the "wizard of his tribe ..

Dragon Riders is an amazing adventure about three children caught up in a timeless war. Their lives are turned upside down by an attack on the monastery where they live. Their flight leads them into an encounter with a young dragon, which they save from certain death. Previously believing that dragons were solely part of mythology, they are rewarded with a flight on three full-grown dragons. The dragons leave them each with a bracelet, which shrink to fit and hence are unable to be removed. The war causes their paths to divide, and they encounter magic, the enemy, a variety of characters and eventual capture. Reunited through incarceration, they discover the secret of their dragon bracelets, calling on the dragons to rescue them. With the reappearance of the dragons, their involvement in the war increases as they seek to bring an end to the fighting.

The characters in this story are delightful, and are brought to life with the things they say and the actions they take, rather than simply through description. The story is written in a lovely, simple style that children will find easy to follow. Similarly, the plot is quick and captivating and the dragons especially are awe-inspiring. Their descriptions are bound to keep young children on the edge of their seats.

Young victor frankenstein and his creations
Book 1 of 6 – The grand castle o pen day
summary of this first book in the series is as follows::
Eight-year-old Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant young inventor, lives in a grand, slightly eerie castle with his creation, Nutty Bolt—a friendly, patchwork monster made from spare parts. Despite the villagers' initial fear, Victor organizes an open day to introduce them to Nutty. The event starts nervously, but Nutty wins everyone over with his quirky charm, spinning arms, and monster dance. The villagers, including skeptical Old Farmer Jenkins and curious children, are amazed by Victor’s inventions, like Whirly Gig the mechanical bird and Tick Tock the clockwork dog. By the end, the villagers embrace Victor and Nutty, offering supplies and friendship. Victor dreams of completing more creations, while Nutty happily reflects on their success. The open day bridges the gap between the castle and the village, proving that even the most unusual inventions—and inventors—can find acceptance.
The initial opening credit is operatic in style with both male and female vocals paying homage to the late 18th century when victor lived and runs to approximately 3 minutes. The closing music has both an element of classic and current music to add a bit of excitement to the end for the listening children.
The story and music itself runs to just over 30 minutes and is narrated in the voice of claire francis, my wife.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come
