Synopsis

In the quaint town of Willow Creek, nestled amidst rolling hills and whispering pines, lies the heartwarming tale of "Olive." Penned by the acclaimed author, Lily M. Haynes, this captivating novel weaves a tapestry of emotions, painting a vivid portrait of life's complexities and the enduring power of love.
At the center of the narrative stands Olive, a woman whose existence is akin to a delicate dance between light and shadow. Haunted by the ghosts of her past, Olive navigates the intricate maze of relationships with an air of resilience, yet her heart bears the scars of bygone tragedies.
As the pages unfurl, we are drawn into Olive's world, where every street corner whispers secrets, and every interaction holds the promise of redemption. Through Haynes' masterful prose, we witness Olive's journey of self-discovery, where she confronts her deepest fears and embraces the tender mercies of hope.
Interwoven with the rich tapestry of Willow Creek's inhabitants, each character adds depth and nuance to the narrative. From the enigmatic bookstore owner who harbors a secret passion for poetry to the reclusive artist who finds solace in the strokes of his brush, every individual leaves an indelible mark on Olive's path.
Against the backdrop of changing seasons and the gentle melody of the town's heartbeat, "Olive" unfolds as a poignant ode to the human spirit. It is a story of forgiveness, of second chances, and of the profound beauty found in life's simplest moments.
With its evocative imagery and lyrical prose, "Olive" transcends the boundaries of mere storytelling, leaving an indelible imprint on the reader's soul. Haynes invites us to embark on a transformative journey alongside Olive, where tears mingle with laughter and where, ultimately, love triumphs over despair.

Disillusioned with a dystopian society a young teenager takes the law into his own hands to avenge his soulmate. But at what price? When Nathan loses Anna — his vibrant, bursting-with-life soulmate, the one girl who completes him — to depression and despair following a vicious rape, he vows revenge against the trio of scumbags involved. Rather than waiting for a justice system he doesn’t believe in to act, he becomes Judge, Jury, Executioner. He hunts down the rapist and those who aided and abetted him hoping this will bring the Anna of old back to him. Instead, much to Nathan’s shock and pain, it has the opposite effect, driving her even further towards a dangerous precipice. Will true love be enough to set things right? One thing’s for sure: no matter what happens, true love is forever. Mitchell P. Jones presents the reader with Nathan’s cold, clear-eyed view of the world and all its faults, a place that hardly has room for love. But, in this world, it is love in the end that rises above all else, turning the coal of daily life into a sparkling diamond.

This trilogy of short stories introduces us to Cody Hamilton.

The opening story, ‘Cody’s Colts’, features Cody, cool and sporty, and Dwaine, dweeb with two left feet. Together, with their friend, the unflappable Leah, they play for their local under 12 football team and have made it to the final of the cup competition against the reigning champions. Cody is desperate to win, and have his picture in the paper for scoring the most hattricks in one season, but he knows the chances are slim with Dwaine in the team. Cody goes on a journey of discovery whereby he learns that team work and friendship is more important that selfishness and winning.

Cody lives with his long-suffering father (who is also the coach of the football team) and, of course, Harry the cat. Harry is a loyal companion and she (yes, ‘she’, not a typo) is treated like one of the family. Cody and his dad communicate with Harry as though she can understand every word they say. Story two, ‘Cody and Harry’, tells of the hilarious confusions that are had with her namesake and their neighbour, also called Harry.

Finally, in ‘Cody Gets Framed’, Cody and his friends spend the summer holidays solving the crime of the stolen Roman treasure. Inexplicably, the evidence points towards Cody and he is suspect number one with the police. Cody, Dwaine and Leah have just 6 weeks to clear his name. Nothing goes to plan though, and life just keeps getting worse. Will they discover the real culprit in time and why has Cody been framed for the theft?

    Inspiration:
As with many authors my decision to put pen to paper arose from making up bedtime stories for my own child. Struggling with his reading and writing, I took to composing stories to read with him that incorporated his key stage words. These stories grew and grew, ultimately becoming the three stories that comprise An Introduction to Cody Hamilton.
