Synopsis

I am Amber Jasper, daughter of the Alpha of the Scarlet Pack. But others only thought I was the lowest of slaves, and no one knew I existed. Because my father never wanted to acknowledge me, he treated me as a stain on his life just because my mother was omega. The day I turned eighteen, my father killed my mate in front of me, just so he could get me to marry his vicious enemy instead of my stepsister. And it was also the day I received the deadliest curse of all. I will never forget him gasping for breath, lifting his head helplessly with rage in his eyes, and saying with his last strength, "I, Eric Johnson, curse you with my life to never be happy, to be betrayed for all eternity-". This curse that filled the rest of my life .... *** I am Alpha King Ryan, and I have watched my father be struck down in front of me, a nightmare that has haunted me for years! And now the chance for revenge has come. [Alpha, we've picked up Luke's daughter and will be returning soon.] A grin of pure, unadulterated happiness tore across my face and I laughed triumphantly. I had been waiting for this day for what felt like an eternity. After enduring years of painful memories and biding my time until the perfect moment presented itself to me, as if by magic, that moment had arrived. But as I stood there stoically as the car parked and the back door opened, my heart almost stopped. As much as I wanted to throw her away from me, I inhaled deeply and my wolf surged forward growling a single word possessively as our eyes locked. "MATE!" My stomach sank and a wave of disgust washed over me as I fought furiously against my wolf for control. No, it's not possible! I will never accept her as my mate, I will make her the lowest of slaves! I will destroy everything about her, just like her father once did to me!

Set in a world where science blurs the line between creation and destruction, the story follows the protagonist as they grapple with the moral implications of their scientific pursuits. Bradbury weaves a tale that explores the fragile balance between innovation and hubris, raising poignant questions about the nature of humanity and the responsibilities that come with wielding knowledge. With his signature blend of suspense and introspection, Bradbury invites readers to ponder the ethical dilemmas that arise when humanity treads on the precipice of the unknown. "The Monster Maker" is a haunting exploration of the boundaries of scientific discovery and the monsters that may emerge from the shadows of our own creation.

A microscopic war rages beneath the skin—and one tiny creature is caught in the crossfire.
In this darkly whimsical and surprisingly profound tale from visionary author Morgan Robertson (Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan), a cholera bacillus—elegant, peaceful, and just trying to mind his own business—finds himself swept into a surreal and deadly war inside a human bloodstream. What begins as a strange new environment quickly turns into a battlefield teeming with monstrous dog-headed rabies microbes, shapeshifting white blood cells, and strange brown invaders from an unknown realm.
Told from the point of view of a single bewildered microbe, The Battle of the Monsters is both a vivid science fantasy and a sharp allegory about fear, identity, and the violence of prejudice. Combining early 20th-century science with a fantastical narrative voice, Robertson paints a microscopic epic that feels as timely today as it was imaginative then.
Perfect for fans of Fantastic Voyage, Gulliver’s Travels, or satirical speculative fiction, this unique novella is brought to life with wit and nuance by narrator Richard Stibbard.

    TODAY WAS FINALLY THE DAY.
I bounded out of bed and checked the calendar hanging above my desk just to be sure, grinning when I saw the circled date. It was September 1st, and that meant I was finally old enough to apply for my dungeon diving license.
The excitement gripped me as I brushed my teeth, dripping toothpaste all over the sink as I stared back at myself in the mirror. Today wasn’t my birthday—that had happened a couple months back.
The first day of September was important because on this date every year, Dungeon Divers United, a special guild that monitored and maintained all the dungeons in the country of Aspatria, decreed that anyone who had either turned twenty years of age in the six months prior to September 1st, or would turn twenty years of age in the six months following, were allowed to try out for diving licenses.
And there was nothing in this world that I wanted more than to be a dungeon diver. Not just any diver though, but the one who completed the Path of Progression.
The Path of Progression was comprised of the Big Five dungeons of Aspatria. They were ranked from easiest to hardest, and only the most talented and experienced divers completed all five of them. If you managed to defeat the boss at the bottom of the fifth dungeon, you were rewarded with more riches than you knew what to do with as well as more fame than you could possibly imagine.
It wasn’t just the riches that drew me though. It was the sense of adventure. It was testing myself in ways that I’ve never been tested. There was also a legacy aspect to it as well, as I was reminded that morning when I entered the kitchen for breakfast.
My mother was standing over the toaster right as two waffles popped into the air. She caught them with the help of the plate and then dropped three dollops of butter on each of them in the shape of a smiley face. To complete the plate, she drizzled some syrup on each of them.
