Synopsis

After spending high school in the closet, the last thing Jett Walker wants is to go to his thirty year class reunion. Then the one person he was never able to resist decides to attend -- punk rocker Trev Chambers.
Trev was the epitome of everything Jett wanted to be, and now he's reuniting the band he made famous for a final blowout concert. Though nobody back home knows he's gay, Jett decides to go. He needs closure. One weekend of pretending he's straight is more than worth it.
When he discovers Trev lives less than two hours away, Jett seeks him out on a whim. The punk rocker has grown up, but as far as Jett's concerned, Trev is more appealing than ever. He's also available.
One brief conversation turns into a date, which raises the question ... are they just living in nostalgia, or can they find a way to build a real future together?

Bored with the repetitiveness of his job as an actor, Dante Hathaway comes up with what he thinks is the perfect solution. He and his lover, Kade Benton, should rob a jewelry store. After all, with his theatrical training and Kade's makeup proficiency, they ought to be able to carry it off with no problems. They do, and elated by their success, they decide to hit up a gallery next.
They are stopped in the nick of time by Dirk Steele and Maverick, who point out that they know a good deal less than they think about what it takes to pull off a successful caper. That might have been the end of their criminal careers if Dirk and Maverick hadn't decided their theatrical skills could be useful to their team of topnotch thieves.
When they're offered a place on the team, Dante and Kade accept, and soon discover that boredom might have been the least of their worries.

If you've ever had someone try to arrange a marriage for you …

If you have so many cousins you can't remember all their names …

If your parents only show love through food and unsolicited advice …

If your 'roommate' has been around for five years and your family still think it's just a great friendship …

Then this book is for you.

And if you've never experienced any of this? Well, aren't you just a little curious?

Meet Daniel Nour: Egyptian and Australian; loud and painfully awkward; conservative and very confused (especially about other boys). He's never quite pulled off normal, but 'not-normal' is where the best stories are. Now he's made his peace with that and is ready to share his wisdom. Told as a series of snapshots from Daniel's life – from 'How to Be Born' to 'How to Die' and everything in between – this is a sharply funny tale of culture, family and trying, but not always managing, to come of age.

At turns wildly absurd, sharply insightful and disarmingly heartfelt, How to Dodge Flying Sandals and Other Advice for Life is a fresh take on growing up in Australia.
