Synopsis

Four remarkable women stand apart as women who boldly carried their faith into the heart of American life: Saints Elizabeth Ann Seton and Frances Xavier Cabrini, and Servants of God Dorothy Day and Thea Bowman. Building on the success of Set the World on Fire, renowned spiritual author and retreat leader Vinita Hampton Wright now offers Blazing the Trail, a powerful four-week retreat with these American Women of the Church to help you connect personally with some of the Church’s most influential female visionaries and activists. Spanning three centuries of American history, the dramatic lives of these women will inspire you to cultivate grit, humility, discernment, vision, courage, and strength. Each week of your retreat begins with weekend reading and prayer to introduce the woman and the spiritual theme of the week, followed by five days of morning and evening prayers. Much of the text comes from the women’s own writings. Scripture, reflection questions, and action steps are thoughtfully crafted to help you engage personally with each woman and her wisdom for living out your faith: Week one: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton—considered the mother of American Catholic education, Seton’s pursuit of truth transformed her journey from Episcopal convert to Catholic founder, revealing how faith can redefine your calling. Week two: St. Frances Xavier Cabrini—a determined Italian immigrant whose missionary work brought hope and purpose to thousands of orphans and impoverished children in New York City during the late 1800s—offers a lesson in how perseverance and faith can change the world. Week three: Servant of God Dorothy Day—a social activist of the twentieth century who poured her heart out for the poor and the marginalized while unabashedly criticizing hypocrisy in the Church—dares us to match our bold declarations of faith with equally bold actions. Week four: Servant of God Thea Bowman— A Black religious sister and dynamic teacher who, through her love, liturgy, and voice, inspires us to embrace our full selves and to love others without reservation.     This retreat goes beyond simply reading about saints—it invites you to integrate the wisdom of these extraordinary women into your everyday life. Through scripture, prayer, and their own words, Blazing the Trail calls you to grow spiritually and take meaningful action, guiding you toward a deeper, more courageous faith.

What if everything you think you know about Jesus is wrong? In The Jesus Papers, Michael Baigent probes into the truth about Jesus's life and crucifixion.
As a religious historian, Baigent explores the religious and political climate in which Jesus was born and raised, and the strife within the different factions of the Jewish Zealot movement. He chronicles the migrations of Jesus's family, his subsequent exposure to other cultures and the events, teachings, and influences that were most likely to have shaped Jesus's early years. Baigent also uncovers the inconsistencies and biases in the accounts of the major historians of Jesus's time, revealing their enduring influence in forming our most common conceptions of Jesus.
Baigent provides a detailed account of his groundbreaking discoveries. The evidence he uncovers leads him to make shocking new assertions that threaten the conventional account of Jesus's life and death and shake the very foundation of Western thought. Ultimately, his investigation raises the hope that we may gain a new understanding of Jesus.

What if the earliest Christians followed radically different visions of Jesus—and some were branded heretics for it?
Heretical Christianities reveals the voices of the forgotten: groups like the Ebionites, Marcionites, and Montanists who offered bold, alternative gospels that once rivaled the orthodox canon.
Through modern translations and contextual insights, this audiobook delivers:
    •	Gospel of the Ebionites & Fragments from Jewish-Christian sects – Emphasizing Jesus’ humanity and Torah-observance.
    •	Marcionite Teachings – Distinctive belief in a higher God of grace and rejection of the Old Testament.
    •	The Epistle of the Apostles & Church Father Rebuttals – Insight into the theological conflicts of the 2nd century.
    •	The New Prophecy Movement – Montanist visions, female prophets, and apocalyptic fervor.

Called - The Crisis and Promise...

The most urgent call upon God?s people is to live as followers of Jesus. The most indicting critique against the church is as simple: its failure to do so. As the leader of an evangelical theological seminary that trains men and women as leaders for the church and society, Mark Labberton writes: "People ask many questions about how their lives relate to the world. What are our lives in this world about? What are we to make of being human? Why are we here? Is there a reason we are alive, and, if so, how would we know what that is? These questions are brought on at times by beauty and joy, but also by the daunting facts of our own lives or of the world around us. We look around in doubt, in pain, in suffering. These are human questions asked throughout history by those inside and outside the church." We long to renew our hope for a world broken and hurting. And it is we, God?s people living in the power of the Holy Spirit, who are called to become this hope and flourish while in exile. Here is the crisis: we are made and redeemed for this calling, but it slides through our fingers. Here is the promise: living and practicing who and why we are is our Christian vocation whenever and wherever we may be. Will you answer the call?
