Beschreibung

Camp Hygiene Tips addresses the vital need for sanitation and disease prevention in camp settings, offering practical guidelines for maintaining clean facilities and managing waste effectively. The book highlights that poor sanitation can lead to outbreaks of waterborne diseases and infections, emphasizing the importance of proper hygiene practices for overall well-being. Did you know that even before germ theory was fully understood, civilizations recognized the link between sanitation and health? This book uniquely translates complex scientific information into easily understandable guidelines. It begins with fundamental hygiene concepts, progresses through water safety, food handling, and personal hygiene, and culminates in waste management techniques. It emphasizes that preventative hygiene practices are the most effective tool for combating disease in camp environments. The book's recommendations are grounded in research from organizations, such as the WHO and CDC, and demonstrates how elements of sociology are relevant when looking at group behavior in a camp setting and strategies for effective education.

As It Turns Out is a family story. Alice Sedgwick Wohl is writing to her brother Bobby, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1965, just before their sister Edie Sedgwick met Andy Warhol. After unexpectedly coming across Edie's image in a clip from Warhol's film Outer and Inner Space, Wohl was moved to put her inner dialogue with Bobby on the page in an attempt to reconstruct Edie's life and figure out what made Edie and Andy such iconic figures in American culture. What was it about Andy that enabled him to anticipate so much of contemporary culture? Why did Edie draw attention wherever she went? Who exactly was she, who fascinated Warhol and captured the imagination of a generation?

Wohl tells the story as only a sister could, from their childhood on a California ranch and the beginnings of Edie's lifelong troubles in the world of their parents to her life and relationship with Warhol within the silver walls of the Factory, in the fashionable arenas of New York, and as projected in the various critically acclaimed films he made with her. As Wohl seeks to understand the conjunction of Edie and Andy, she writes with a keen critical eye and careful reflection about their enduring impact. As It Turns Out is a meditation addressed to her brother about their sister, about the girl behind the magnetic image, and about the culture she and Warhol introduced.

The need for love begins with your need to love yourself.
Consciously or unconsciously, everyone is trying to enrich and improve their relationships in some way. Enriching our relationships is an art and a science. For this enrichment to happen'even before we can find and accept love'we have to love ourselves.
Through his experience in working with others to heal their pain, Dr. Gray has found patterns and messages that many of us received while growing up. These messages can keep us from loving ourselves'and from loving and receiving love from others. By exploring how these messages became ingrained in us while we were young and how we are using them today, we can change old patterns and thoughts about ourselves and others as well as create long-lasting, fulfilling relationships.
John Gray tells us that “Loving yourself in the presence of others means being able to express your inner gifts and talents without fear. When you don't love yourself and mask your real self, the cycle works in the opposite direction'decreasing love and true self expression.”

This book sprouted from a seed that was planted when I was in High School back in the early 90s. My friends mom Geralyn, one of the few adults who helped me feel accepted, commented how at the young age of 15 years old I had lived several lives. It was my practice of being a social chameleon, always finding a way to fit in, that she was pointing to. Over the next 30 years this “you should write a book” idea was nurtured by a whole bunch of special people.
Then about 2 years ago, my buddy Lee Crump sparked the seed into breaking through the crust. I shared my experience with the legal system and addiction with him, which in the moment seemed to shock him. It wasn’t an offensive shock, it was more a flattering shock. The kind that says “wow, if anyone else said this about you I wouldn’t believe them.”
After some time Lee pulled my aside and told me how impactful my story was on him. He told me how my past and my present gave him hope for a loved one. He told me that my story helped him a “non-addict” and that my story could help both the family of addicts and addicts alike. He told me I should write a book.
Now the seed that Geralyn planted, the “you should write a book” seed was more than a notch on the post. It was a way to convert my shortcomings into something meaningful. It is a way for me to serve others by sharing my experience strength and hope. It is a way for me to stay on the path of Becoming the Promise I am intended to be.
