  Poetry. A form of words that seems so elegantly simple in one verse and so cleverly complex in another.  Each poet has a particular style, an individual and unique way with words and yet each of us seems to recognise the path and destination of where the verses lead, even if sometimes the full comprehension may be a little beyond us. 
   
  Through the centuries every culture has produced verse to symbolize and to describe everything from everyday life, natural wonders, the human condition and even in its more hubristic moments, the crushing triumph of an enemy. 
   
  In the volumes of this series, we take a look at poetry through the prism of individual regions of England, or sometimes more quaintly known as ‘Albion’, or ‘Blighty’, through the centuries of its gloried history. 
   
  England, despite its perception of reserve and under-statement has, in reality, strode the global stage at various time in many things, both good and bad, from Empire to long distance running. Here our focus in on its literature.  Famed for its fiction and dramas, it is equally admired for its plethora of gifted poets and the dazzling verse which has added so much to its artistic legacy.  These classic poets are wonders of their age and of their art.  Genius is written in their names. 
   
  In this volume we explore the poets of Oxford.  A small city, with its famed university, with an enviable historical grandeur and roll-call of poets who dazzle, humble and inspire us all in ways that only a poet can.  Our poets include A E Housman, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Michael Drayton, Percy Bysshe Shelley and a host of other timeless greats.

  A world-famous children's author under threat. A battle of wills in the wake of scandal. And a chance to make amends…
  It's the summer of 1983, The Witches is about to hit the shelves and Roald Dahl is making last-minute edits. But the outcry at his recent, explicitly antisemitic article won't die down. Across a single afternoon at his family home, and rocked by an unexpectedly explosive confrontation, Dahl is forced to choose: make a public apology or risk his name and reputation.
  Inspired by real events, Mark Rosenblatt's debut play Giant offers a nuanced portrait of a fiendishly charismatic icon – and explores with dark humour the difference between considered opinion and dangerous rhetoric.
  The play was first performed to great acclaim at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 2024, directed by Nicholas Hytner with a cast including John Lithgow as Dahl. It transferred to the West End the following year, and won the Olivier and Critics' Circle Awards for Best New Play. Mark Rosenblatt won Best Creative West End Debut at the Stage Debut Awards in 2025.

  The play was commissioned by ThickSkin and Lawrence Batley Theatre, was a winner of the New Play Commission Scheme, and was first presented on tour of the UK in 2024.

  It is a poem about the never ending fascination of People with the Human body. 
  Some might say, its in our DNA. That maybe so.  
  The Greeks knew how to display it, as both eroticism and as an Art form. 
  Showing both sexes in the 'Perfect' perfection of Beauty! 
  Unfortunately; the human form, especially the female human form has been in the last few decades 
  since the new renaissance or as we call the sexual revolution or as is now the 'free society'. 
  Denigrated to an object not of art but purely of desire, or descended into the more pornographic exploitive realms of decor art. 
  *NO A.I. has been used in the creation of this Poem. * As for all his poems & s/stories.*
