Each section presents a multifaceted exploration of sacred narratives, laws, and theological concepts, inviting comparisons and highlighting both divergences and commonalities. Through engaging prose and scholarly analysis, the authors skillfully navigate the literary styles, historical contexts, and cultural significances that have shaped these scriptures, providing essential insights into the diverse traditions of faith and the interpretative lens that scholars have applied throughout centuries. The contributors, a distinguished collective of theologians, historians, and literary critics, bring to the table a wealth of knowledge and personal experiences that inform their interpretations. Their backgrounds encompass various disciplines and faith traditions, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives that allows for a more profound understanding of how these texts resonate across time and cultures. This collaboration reflects an ongoing dialogue within religious studies and interfaith scholarship, showcasing the authors' commitment to fostering critical engagement with sacred texts. The life story of Jesus of Nazareth, considered by billions of Christians to be the Messiah prophesized in the Old Testament of the Bible, is perhaps the most famous in history. Described in detail in the New Testament, Jesus comes from both divine yet humble roots, born in a manger to a young woman, but in time he leads a fervent following as tales of his miracles spread across the Holy Land. The crucifixion and resurrection that follow create the climactic resolution of Jesus’ life story and cement his status as the Christ, at least in the eyes of the burgeoning religious movement that would sweep across the region in the coming decades. An anonymous writer would compose the first gospel, Mark, and the major theme would be the way of Jesus to his death. His followers, whose movement would originally be called "the way,” would also bring about a new religion that has lasted 20 centuries, and while it is focused on the figure of Jesus, the rural man of Israel who started it all, the historical Jesus was gradually enshrined under layers of sermons, chants, legends and philosophies that would be alien to Jews in Jesus’s day. Like ideological strata, they covered the historical facts, obscuring the Jesus of history under the Christ of faith.
It goes without saying that Judas is an interesting character in the development of the salvation history. His person, his act of betrayal and even his replacement were predicted by the Old Testament prophets, which some Biblical scholars take as evidence that Judas was doomed from the beginning to be the betrayer and had no choice. But by taking a closer look at the history, the reader will see several points along the way, even up to the moment of the final kiss, in which Jesus gave Judas the opportunity to repent. God’s plan was going to be fulfilled, and God was going to use an individual to bring about the betrayal of Jesus,

Do you desire to do great things for God but feel like you're falling short?
Does your life feel small, filled with endless demands, seemingly insignificant work, mundane responsibilities, or challenging relationships? If your desire to make an impact for God's kingdom collides with the limits and disappointments of everyday life, it's easy to feel restless, resigned, and discouraged.
Scripture offers a better way. In one of Paul's letters, there's an unexpected, paradoxical call: "Make it your ambition to live quietly . . ."
In The Quiet Ambition, pastor and theologian Ryan P. Tinetti unpacks the rich spiritual wisdom of 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, showing how it can help you reimagine what following Jesus looks like. Tinetti explores four key postures for living out your Christian life:

    - Live quietly.
    - Tend your own business.
    - Work with your hands.
    - Walk gracefully toward outsiders.
This call to quiet ambition frees you to embrace God's presence in the small, ordinary moments of your life. By shifting your focus from self-aggrandizing desires and internalized pressure for spiritual achievement to faithful living in the everyday, you can experience real hope and discover what it truly means to live a life that counts.

    “To enter Faerie’s blessed demesne
    four secrets must be found:
the land unbound by time and space
opens only to the one who knows
the Light, the Song, and Mortal Gate.”

In the sheltered town of Carmel, women do not have a future outside of a good marriage. That future is threatened when Leah Edwards’ father gambles away the family’s livelihood and estate. She and her sisters must hurry to find husbands. Then August Fox, a Guardian from Cariath, comes to town and purchases a supposedly haunted manor. Charged to keep the peace between mortals and Faerie, the Guardians are the stuff of legend. After he stuns her with a marriage proposal, Leah reluctantly journeys to Cariath, discovering there is more to August and the legends than she guessed.

Nimrod and his Oath-breakers betrayed the Guardians, seeking to solve an ancient riddle that would unlock the Faerie realm. Not all his followers share his desire for conquest. Benedict Fox, his second-in-command, has different motives. But as he continues fulfilling Nimrod’s plan, Benedict hurtles towards a choice between saving his family and settling a personal vendetta.

For Leah, August, and their allies, it is a race against time to solve the ancient riddle before the Oath-breakers, and reunite the Guardians to save the mortal realm. The war is never really over, and this time, the battle lines cut through blood ties and brotherhood.

Have you been struggling to see God lately? This beautiful weaving of biblical reflection and true stories from Jesus-followers turns our gaze again to the One who made us, loves us, and will never leave us. Each chapter in Portrait of God explores an attribute of God through a person in church history who radically experienced His nature. Here you’ll discover: Faith: how an all-powerful God worked miracles in the life of Kathryn Kuhlman, Holiness: what Augustine of Hippo’s life in a secular world teaches us about God, Compassion: how William and Catherine Booth’s service to others radiated God’s love, And more. Portrait of God includes a foreword from Michael W. Smith, thought-provoking questions, and a list of further reading about each faith leader. As author Jack Mooring writes, “The Christian life is less about learning and more about remembering.” When our spiritual life feels like a roller coaster, true stories of faithful Christians help us rediscover our wonder about the unchanging character of our Creator.
