Ulysses is a modernist novel by Irish writer James Joyce. It was first serialized in parts in the American journal The Little Review from March 1918 to December 1920 and then published in its entirety in Paris by Sylvia Beach on February 2, 1922, Joyce's 40th birthday. It is considered one of the most important works of modernist literature and has been called "a demonstration and summation of the entire movement."According to Declan Kiberd, "Before Joyce, no writer of fiction had so foregrounded the process of thinking". Ulysses chronicles the appointments and encounters of the itinerant Leopold Bloom in Dublin in the course of an ordinary day, 16 June 1904. Ulysses is the Latinised name of Odysseus, the hero of Homer's epic poem the Odyssey, and the novel establishes a series of parallels between the poem and the novel, with structural correspondences between the characters and experiences of Bloom and Odysseus, Molly Bloom, and Penelope, and Stephen Dedalus and Telemachus, in addition to events and themes of the early 20th-century context of modernism, Dublin, and Ireland's relationship to Britain. The novel is highly allusive and also imitates the styles of different periods of English literature. Since its publication, the book has attracted controversy and scrutiny, ranging from an obscenity trial in the United States in 1921 to protracted textual "Joyce Wars". The novel's stream of consciousness technique, careful structuring, and experimental prose—replete with puns, parodies, and allusions—as well as its rich characterization and broad humor, have led it to be regarded as one of the greatest literary works in history.

General Fentiman is found dead on the afternoon of November 11 in his armchair at the Bellona Club—just hours after the passing of his wealthy estranged sister. At ninety years old, his physician certifies death by natural causes. The important question, then, is not how he died, but when, as the answer determines the fate of an inheritance worth half a million pounds. If he died after his sister, her fortune stands to go to his grandsons, who are sorely in need of the funds. However, if his sister outlived him—even if only briefly—the money instead goes to his sister's companion, Ann Dorland. Fellow Bellona Club member and amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey has to untangle a series of events to determine the general's precise time of death—and figure out if it was, in fact, a result of natural causes.

    Scoring off Jeeves

"There are moments when a man feels he has the upper hand… and then there are the moments immediately after."
In Scoring off Jeeves, Bertie Wooster is quietly confident that, just this once, he has managed to get the better of his otherwise infallible valet. A small victory, perhaps—but in a life so frequently guided, corrected, and discreetly improved, it feels like a triumph of historic proportions.
    Naturally, this cannot possibly last.
With the usual assortment of social complications, emotional entanglements, and decisions of a distinctly Woosterian calibre, matters begin to develop in a direction that is, at best, questionable—and, at worst, entirely inevitable.
Fortunately (or otherwise), Jeeves is observing.
Calm, unruffled, and several moves ahead of everyone else, he allows events to unfold just far enough before applying his particular brand of quiet correction—restoring order with a precision that is as humbling as it is impressive. A perfectly tuned piece of Wodehouse: light, swift, and irresistibly clever. Ideal for listeners who appreciate understated wit, elegant mischief, and the delicate art of being gently—but decisively—outmaneuvered. Because when Bertie Wooster thinks he's winning… it's usually only part of Jeeves's plan.

"A man's character is forged in the silence of the forest and the heat of his first battle."

Before he was the "Pathfinder" or "Hawkeye," he was simply Deerslayer—a young man who had never raised a rifle against a human being. On the shores of the crystal-clear Lake Glimmerglass, Natty Bumppo joins his Mohican brother Chingachgook on a perilous mission to rescue a kidnapped maiden. But the wilderness is fraught with danger: the ruthless Thomas Hutter defends his floating "Muskrat Castle" against Huron war parties, and Natty must navigate a world where the line between "civilized" and "savage" is blurred. This is the story of how a hunter became a warrior and a legend was born.

The Education of a Frontiersman: The Deerslayer is a profound meditation on honor and the "white man's gifts" versus "red man's gifts." We witness Natty's first lethal encounter—a pivotal moment of psychological transition—where he earns his first warrior name from a dying foe. It is a masterpiece of moral complexity disguised as a high-stakes adventure.

A World in Conflict: The novel captures the breathtaking beauty of the pre-Revolutionary American landscape while exposing the brutal realities of colonial expansion. Through the characters of the beautiful Judith Hutter and the simple-minded Hetty, Cooper explores themes of vanity, faith, and the tragic consequences of frontier violence.

The Foundation of an Epic: This is where the greatest friendship in American literature begins. The bond between Natty and Chingachgook is established here in its purest form—a partnership built on mutual respect, shared danger, and an unbreakable code of the woods.

Experience the dawn of the frontier. Purchase "The Deerslayer" today and walk the path of the legend.
