Upton Sinclair was a prolific American author who won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1943. Sinclair wrote many well known books across different genres but his most famous is The Jungle, an influential novel that caused a public uproar and led to the Meat Inspection Act in 1906. This edition of Samuel the Seeker includes a table of contents.

That discovery inspired this whole ficlet… Mr. Bennet’s Call This is my imagining of a scene omitted from P&P: in the original work, we discover that Mr Bennet paid a call upon Bingley when he teases Mrs Bennet about not being able to escape the acquaintance. I found myself wondering, what was said in that call? The Exception That Proves The Rule You know the rule. Eavesdroppers rarely hear good of themselves. So, this is a what-if one-shot that is intended to be the exception to that rule. Our little tale begins at Netherfield, while Elizabeth is there nursing Jane. Elizabeth comes downstairs to dispatch the letter to her mother, requesting that the carriage be sent to collect them. God's fool (1892) is a novel by Maarten Maartens, set in a fictional Dutch town. The novel's 'hero', Elias Lossell, becomes deaf and blind from an accident when he is nine years old. The people around him can communicate with him by writing letters with a finger on the palm of his hand. Although communication is possible, mentally he always remains a boy of nine. Thanks to a somewhat thoughtless testament Elias becomes the rightful owner of a tea-merchant firm. His half-brothers, the twins Hendrik and Hubert, manage the firm on his behalf. Elias lives in a house of his own at the outskirts of the town, looked after by his old nurse, and occupies himself by growing flowers and helping the needy. A quarrel between the twins in Elias's house escalates into a murder, and the novel has an open ending after a twist. The title is based on 1 Corinthians 3:19: 'For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.' Elias Lossell, the principal person, may be a fool, but he has God's wisdom.Voir livre
David Copperfield is the eighth novel by Charles Dickens. The novel's full title is The Personal History, Adventures, Experience and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery (Which He Never Meant to Publish on Any Account). It was first published as a serial in 1849/50, and as a book in 1850.The novel features the character David Copperfield, and is written in the first person, as a description of his life until middle age, with his own adventures and the numerous friends and enemies he meets along his way.
