Beschreibung

IP multicast routing is a technique used in computer networks to efficiently deliver data packets from a single sender to multiple recipients. It is specifically designed for applications where data needs to be distributed simultaneously to a group of interested receivers. In traditional unicast communication, a sender sends packets to individual receivers using their unique IP addresses. This creates a point-to-point connection between the sender and each receiver, resulting in duplicate transmissions if multiple receivers are interested in the same data. Unicast is inefficient for one-to-many or many-to-many communication scenarios. Multicast routing, on the other hand, allows a sender to transmit a single copy of a packet, and network routers replicate and forward it to all interested receivers. This saves network bandwidth and processing resources, as the data is distributed only once. Multicast routing uses special IP multicast addresses, typically in the range of 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255, to identify multicast groups. To enable IP multicast routing, routers in the network need to support multicast routing protocols such as Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM). These protocols enable routers to exchange information about multicast groups and determine the optimal path for forwarding multicast traffic. Routers maintain multicast routing tables that specify the outgoing interfaces and next-hop routers for forwarding multicast packets. When a sender wants to send data to a multicast group, it encapsulates the data in a multicast packet and sets the appropriate multicast IP destination address. The routers along the path use the multicast routing tables to determine how to forward the packet to all interested receivers. Receivers interested in receiving multicast data join the multicast group by sending a membership request to the nearest router. The router adds the receiver to the multicast distribution tree, and subsequent multicast packets are forwarded

Green Greenwich reveals the many green spaces in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in south east London. Candy Blackham has spent three years exploring the woods, flowery meadows, parks and nature reserves with her camera. She shares with us her enjoyment of the many sites which are found around almost every corner, and all within forty minutes of central London. Each site has a brief historical description and photographs which tempt us to go walking every day of the year as the trees change from bare branches to green leaves, and then the brilliant jewel-like colours of autumn. As you walk in the parks discover herons, foxes, many varieties of butterflies and other insects, and of course the ever-present ring-necked parakeets. Walk along the Thames, enjoy views from hilltops, explore the canals of Thamesmead, and take time to enjoy the calm of the natural surroundings. Candy Blackham has given us another unique book which invites us to go walking beyond our usual haunts and reminds us how fortunate we are to have these green spaces and how much they depend on our protection and vigilance so that they are not lost in London's growth.

A narrator and her dog are criss-crossing the Swiss Alps. She travels with friends who share her interest in food, languages and their topographical contexts. They collect colours, even look for colourlessness, and develop the idea of a walk-in diary, a vain attempt to archive their observations.
Gradually, other mountains appear in their observations and memories, as do the mountains of literature and art. Mountains may be sites of fear and awe, of narrow-mindedness, racism and ever-looming collapse; Alpine lodges may be places of hospitality, retreat and unexpected encounters; of nature under threat.
In 515 notes, Zsuzsanna Gahse unfolds a finely woven interplay between her six characters while giving us a vivid panorama of mountain worlds, a multi-layered typology of all things mountainish.

There are few stories more remarkable than the evolution of life on earth. Where did humans come from? Where did life come from? New fields of study, such as molecular biology and astrobiology, are shedding remarkable new light on the origin of life and the origin of sex.In this Very Short Introduction Michael J. Benton covers all the main fossil groups, including dinosaurs, and the upheavals such as mass extinctions that have beset our planet and life on Earth. Benton highlights the key episodes in the evolution of life from its origin over some four billion years, to the ten million or more species today. The book ends with a consideration of humans themselves, with our ability to modify the Earth in ways that no other species has ever done, and the consequences of that power.

Myology is the scientific study of muscles, their structure, function, and role in movement. Muscles are fundamental to human life, enabling everything from basic motions such as breathing and walking to complex athletic performances. Without muscles, the human body would be incapable of movement, stability, or even essential functions such as circulation and digestion. Understanding myology provides valuable insight into how the body operates, adapts, and responds to physical demands.
The importance of studying muscles extends beyond movement. Myology is crucial in various fields, including medicine, sports science, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Muscle health affects overall well-being, influencing strength, endurance, posture, and even metabolic function. For athletes, understanding muscle mechanics helps optimize performance and prevent injuries. In the medical field, myology plays a key role in diagnosing and treating muscular disorders, ranging from simple strains to complex neuromuscular diseases.
The study of muscles dates back thousands of years. Ancient Greek physicians, including Hippocrates and Galen, laid the groundwork for myology, describing muscle function in relation to human anatomy. Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical drawings provided further insights into muscle structure and movement. As medical knowledge advanced, scientists discovered the microscopic components of muscles, leading to a deeper understanding of their biochemical and physiological properties. Today, modern technology, such as electromyography (EMG) and imaging techniques, allows researchers to study muscle function in greater detail than ever before.
