Synopsis

Tristram Fane Saunders lives in London and works as a journalist. The Rake lives in lavish squalor and has never worked in his life. Laura lives nowhere – she's dead, for now – but she is working on a way to solve that problem.
These sly, untrustworthy poems tell the story of a nameless, ageless dandy – his slow decline, and his well-deserved fall. Take a ride in the Rake's carriage, but keep an eye on your purse.

Do ye hear the children weeping, O my brothers,
Ere the sorrow comes with years ?
They are leaning their young heads against their mothers, —
And that cannot stop their tears.

The language of Poetry is an art that most of us attempt at some point in our lives. Although its commonplace exposure has been somewhat marginalised in today’s often fast-paced lives we all recognise good verse that can empathise with our thoughts or open us up to experience new things in new ways, to better understand and to enjoy the many strands of our lives.
But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy.
In this volume we explore the poets and the poetry of the Elizabethan Age. Long revered and admired this verse illuminated both this gilded age and the talents in the centuries that followed.

When a young scholar finds Eternal Hydra, a long-lost, legendary and encyclopedic novel by an obscure Irish writer, she brings the manuscript to an esteemed publisher, hoping to secure an international audience for the book. But Vivian's obsession with the dead author, who has materialized in her life, is challenged by the work of a contemporary historical novelist, and she's forced to face confounding questions about authorship, racism, and ethical behavior.

Weaving between modern-day New York, 1930s Paris and New Orleans in the years following the Civil War, Eternal Hydra is a postmodern look at the making of a modernist masterpiece.

'A play of such tight structure, such cerebral content and such sure drama that the thoughtful theatregoer could hardly fail to be impressed.'

The life and career of a Poet is often thought of as musing at a desk, or lying in a meadow, or on long journeys to find inspiration for their next masterwork. But more often than not a poet was a part-time profession in subservient submission to their actual, salary-paying job.
In this volume we bring together those professionals whose skills are based on using words to achieve the ambitions, policies, desires and sleights of hand of their Governments and institutions. This calculated logic and scheming enhances both diplomacy and their poetry.

An exquisite, lyrical reimagining of Wittgenstein's philosophical work of 1922, from a rising star on par with Inger Christensen
Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, often noted as the most important philosophical work of the 20th century, had a broad goal: to identify the relationship between language and reality, and to define the limits of science.
Following on from Wittgenstein 100 years later, Signe Gjessing updates and reimagines the Tractatus, marrying poetry with philosophy to test the boundaries of reality. Stunning, knowing, and revitalising, and glinting with stars, silk, and ecstasy, this is poetry which exacts the logical consequence of philosophy, while locating beauty and significance in the nonsense of the world.
