Beschreibung

How does a parent learn to love their children? How is it possible to love a person before you have ever even met them? What makes a parent's heart so willing to sacrifice their sleep, their money, their time, and their entire heart to another human being? Why does a parent continue to love their children even after the sometimes tumultuous pre-teen, teen-age, and early adult years? What makes a parent's love ever-present, always able to see the absolute best, and never fail regardless of their children's words or actions?

I assure you that it is not because we are all wonderful people who possess patience beyond understanding. It is not because we have read 300 books on how to be the best parent ever. It is because we are created in the Father's image. Our heavenly Father created us to love as he loves; unconditionally, patiently, faithfully, enduringly, without regret, remorse, hostility or anger. As I reflected on my own unconditional love for my children and my grandchildren I soon realized that I Got That From Him!

Nurturing growth is a fundamental aspect of both personal and collective development. It is the process of creating an environment where individuals can flourish, reach their full potential, and thrive. The journey of growth involves not only the pursuit of external success but also the cultivation of inner strength, self-awareness, and a deep understanding of one’s purpose. By providing the right kind of support, encouragement, and guidance, it becomes possible to foster an atmosphere where growth is not only achievable but sustainable.
At its core, nurturing growth is about offering the necessary resources and fostering the right mindset for individuals to flourish. Growth is not something that happens by accident; it requires conscious effort and dedication. It involves creating the conditions that allow for personal transformation, whether that’s emotional, mental, or spiritual. The importance of growth is multifaceted; it helps individuals develop resilience, adapt to challenges, and become more effective in their endeavors. Encouragement plays a pivotal role in this process, as it can serve as a driving force, helping individuals overcome self-doubt, fear, and obstacles along their journey.
Understanding development and flourishing is crucial in the context of nurturing growth. Development refers to the continuous process of improvement, whether in skills, knowledge, or emotional well-being. It’s about evolving into a more capable version of oneself, and it’s a dynamic process that often requires introspection, learning, and self-compassion. Flourishing, on the other hand, is the state of thriving—living a life full of purpose, joy, and fulfillment. It represents not just the absence of difficulties but the active presence of well-being and meaning in life.

Even though she's only 12 years old, Lily McKinley already feels the weight of the world's brokenness. She's seen it in her mother's exhaustion, her grandmother's illness, and the cruelty of Adam, the bully at her school. But most tragically, she experienced it two months ago when her father died in a terrible accident.

One day, it transports her to a fantasy world called the Somnium Realm, where her father's secret history embroils her in an epic quest. We all love stories. We can't help it. They fill our vision and capture our heart. And these stories all follow familiar patterns: rags to riches; the monster defeated; love lost and then found again. Across the ages and down through history these themes have resonated with people. Is it possible that these themes go deeper than the story books? Could it be that we tell such stories because we are in such a story? And might the ultimate Hero have shown up, turning it all from fiction to fact? That's the claim of this book. In Love Story we explore Jesus as the true Hero and Easter as the 'myth that really happened'.

What will you find when you allow yourself to go deeper?
You’re not satisfied with the dry ground of religious intellectualism. You’re not satisfied with just dipping your toes into a shallow spirituality. You want to know the heart of God more intimately. You want to encounter God in the deep places.
In Deeper Places, pastor and musician Matthew Jacoby shares a rich portrait of authentic spirituality that will help you dive deep beneath the surface to experience the kind of profound joy that the psalmists sang about. For over fifteen years, Jacoby has been studying the Psalms and setting them to music as they were intended. Now he gives you an in-depth look at the Psalms as a pathway to an intimate and satisfying relationship with God.
“Few have understood the Psalms as well as Matthew Jacoby. He has sung them, taught them, and lived them for as long as he can remember. As such, he is a worthy guide for those seeking the more authentic, biblical, and earthy faith found in them.”- Alan Hirsch, author, The Faith of Leap, Untamed, and Right Here, Right Now.
“Deeper Places is about knowing God, not knowing about God. Jacoby’s insights made me want to do something I’d not done for years: to make reading the Psalms a daily part of my life with God.”- Gary W. Moon, director of the Dallas Willard Center at Westmont College; author, Apprenticeship with Jesus.
“This collection of thoughtful reflections on the Psalms is beautifully written and heartfelt. This is a book to be savored.”- Ruth Haley Barton, founder, Transforming Center; author, Invitation to Solitude and Silence.
“Matthew Jacoby is a musician, a theologian, and a pastor-a unique blending of calling and gifting that makes him ideally equipped to explore the ancient Hebrew songbook.”- Stuart Briscoe, author, broadcaster, international speaker.
