Synopsis

When the game changes, love finds a way to score.

Jabari Hall has spent his entire life chasing victory on the ice--but one devastating hit leaves him benched, not just from hockey but from the future he thought he had. Now, as he struggles with deteriorating eyesight, his well-meaning teammates set him up on a date, hoping it will cheer him up--only the date they choose is none other than Val Elliott, his ex's sister.

Val never expected to be sitting across from Jabari, especially after the way he broke her sister's heart. But when Jabari opens up about his diagnosis, Val's guarded heart softens, and she offers him a listening ear. What begins as a simple friendship quickly turns into something more.

As Jabari navigates life off the ice, he's drawn to Val in ways he didn't expect. With her loyalty to her family on the line and Jabari searching for faith and a new purpose, can they make it to the goal together, or will their hearts wind up in the penalty box?

Brought to you by Altrusian Grace Media and narrated by Matthew Schmitz.

The Twelve Keys of Basil Valentine is a widely reproduced alchemical book attributed to Basil Valentine. It was first published in 1599 by Johann Thölde who is likely the book's true author. It is presented as a sequence of alchemical operations encoded allegorically in words, to which images have been added. The first Basil Valentine book to discuss the keys is Ein kurtz summarischer Tractat, von dem grossen Stein der Uralten ("A Short Summary Tract: Of the great stone of the ancients"), 1599. The first part of the book is a discussion of general alchemical principles and advice about the philosopher's stone. The second half of Ein kurtz summarischer Tractat, under the subtitle "The Twelve Keys", contains twelve short chapters. Each chapter, or "key", is an allegorical description of one step in the process by which the philosopher's stone may be created. With each step, the symbolic names (Deckname, or code name) used to indicate the critical ingredients are changed, just as the ingredients themselves are transformed. The keys are written in such a fashion as to conceal as well as to illuminate: only a knowledgeable reader or alchemical adept was expected to correctly interpret the veiled language of the allegorical text and its related images. Alchemy.

Christology can no longer be confined to the task of making philosophical sense of the figure of Jesus of Nazareth in terms of the formulation of the “two natures in one person” doctrine derived from the early Christian centuries. Christian theology is now required to interpret the impact and person of Jesus of Nazareth by responding to critical demands from many perspectives.

What Christ? Whose Christ? therefore explores the Christological challenge by paying attention to a number of different perspectives, each bringing their own specialist lens to bear. These include Jesus of History research, recognition of differing historical and cultural contexts from the classical period to the present day, feminist perspectives, post-colonial and race studies, and developments from the field of interfaith theology.

Each of these specialisms represent substantial fields of study and each therefore approaches any relevance for Christology with searching questions and considerable intellectual force. Significant for the essays in this book is reliance on the full humanity of Jesus as a figure of history who is capable of being received in new ways according to the requirements of a range of disciplines and who in turn remains capable of mediating the presence of divine reality for our times.

The wilderness can be scary—a place full of peril and desolation. And it can feel meaningless. But when we read the Scriptures, the wilderness is also the place God reveals Himself and cares for the people He loves. Pastor Dustin Crowe explores the biblical theme of the wilderness, helping readers counter the harsh, seemingly hopeless seasons in their lives with hope and courage. The wilderness is often the place where God grows our faith and proves His faithfulness. But to grow, we must be intentional about listening and leaning into His provision. Looking to wilderness stories of the Bible—including Hagar, Moses, David, Eijah, and Jesus—Your Wilderness Is Not a Waste shows who God is and how He’s at work. Readers will find encouragement in His good purposes as they experience God’s sustaining and shaping grace in their lives. The wilderness has a dual nature, with both threats to our faith and opportunities to grow in faith. As we depend on God, we discover how to worship in our wilderness rather than waste it. Whether you’re in a season of significant transition, spiritual apathy, heartbreak, waiting, or a time of trial and testing, God invites you to come close—to experience His provision and power—Your Wilderness Is Not a Waste shows us how.

This book is dedicated to Christians and non-Christians for salvation, daily motivation, inspiration and devotion. I have realised that some people get to Christ at some point then, go back to the world because of the inability to stand firm to their faith in the Lord. Thus, one must realize that in this last days difficult times are still to come. Many people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. So, because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. I encourage people to hold on to the confession of their hope without wavering, for He (God) who promised (salvation) is faithful.
