Sinossi

What is transdisciplinarity - and what are its methods? How does a living lab work? What is the purpose of citizen science, student-organized teaching and cooperative education? This handbook unpacks key terms and concepts to describe the range of transdisciplinary learning in the context of academic education. Transdisciplinary learning turns out to be a comprehensive innovation process in response to the major global challenges such as climate change, urbanization or migration. A reference work for students, lecturers, scientists, and anyone wanting to understand the profound changes in higher education.

An unhappy childhood often affects who we become in adulthood and our capacity to enjoy whatever successes we achieve. In Healing of a Psychotherapist: A Journey of Rebellion, Reflection, and Redemption, Charles McCormack, MA, MSW, LCSW-C, uses his own life in illustration. With searing honesty, McCormack lays bare his personal and professional ordeals, along with the lessons he’s drawn and continues to draw. Though his story is unique, his struggles are not; thus, McCormack’s narrative works its way into the heart of each of us. His take home, the one given to him by his mother on her deathbed, is clear. Staring into his eyes, she was emphatic: “Charlie. Have a good life. Have a good life.,” refusing to break her hold upon him until he finally committed, “I will, mom, I will, “ all the while thinking, “how the hell do I do that?” McCormack hopes that sharing his story through this book brings his readers insight and healing.
Mr. McCormack holds master's degrees in Psychology and Social Work. Since 1974, he has worked in in-patient psychiatric units, family violence, sexual abuse treatment, and SUDs treatment programs, and private practice. In 1988, he was named the Senior Social Worker of Adult Long-term Inpatient Services at Sheppard Pratt. His writings include “Treatment of the Borderline/Schizoid Couple,” "Treating Borderline States in Marriage," and "Essence" (memoir), awarded the Montaigne Medal for being the most thought-provoking of books. He was a long-term faculty member of the Washington School Psychiatry and Clinician of the Year (Maryland Society of Clinical Social Work). Long before social work embraced trauma-informed approaches, McCormack wrote about and trained social workers in ways of conceptualizing and humanizing work with individuals and couples impacted by major psychopathology. In 2023, McCormack was the recipient of the University of Maryland School of Social Work's Emeritus Award for contributions to the profession.

    Stress And Anxiety Management:
Are you suffering from stress, anxiety, or panic attacks and are looking for a lasting solution? You have come to the right place!
This book seeks to equip you with understanding and techniques to help you shift your thinking so that you can better respond to negative emotions. The solution is not out there—it is right inside of you, and this book seeks to help you activate it.
The good news here is that stress and anxiety management does not have to be a daunting task. Herein you will find techniques that you can practice anywhere—be it at home, in the office, or even while traveling.
CBT is your permanent stress solution—guiding you on how to alter your thinking and perceptions so that you can face life’s situations without worrying yourself sick, literally. Coping with stress has never been easier.Alcohol Addiction:Alcohol is a wonderful thing. It can be used for celebrations, both good and bad!
It can be used to toast to someone’s good fortune or hope for a better future. It can be used in an expression of undying love or simply to enjoy a relaxing moment at the end of a difficult work week.
But alcohol can be an evil thing, also. Alcohol can cause brain damage, heart problems, and strokes. Alcohol can lead to liver damage. Alcohol can lead to drunken driving accidents and even death. Why alcohol is such a problem for some people and not for others still remains a mystery. But the fact is that alcohol is such a problem for some people that it can have life-threatening consequences. These people are called alcoholics, and this book was written for them. The alcoholic has a disease called alcoholism, and like anyone else with a disease, they need help.

The theory of Dharmic Leadership is very different from the theory of Modern Management. Modern Management is based on anxiety. We have only one life to achieve greatness, and one life to save the world. There is a sense of urgency in the pursuit of happily ever after. Hence the emphasis on comparison, combat, and competition. Dharmic Leadership is more relaxed. In the Indian scheme of things, history exists before and after us. There will be always people who will be anxious, ambitious, combative, and competitive. We still need to create an ecosystem of collaboration and pleasure, turn rana-bhoomi into ranga-bhoomi, at least around us.In this chapter we will take an anthropological journey and understand how the invention of exchange established human culture, and why exchange in India took the form of yagna.

This is a snapshot of your personal and unique way of processing information. I’ve written it over a period of many years–tweaking it as I researched and learned more about our layers of learning.
I’ve taught violin, raised children, and given workshops (some for music students and some for authors of children’s books where we discussed the child’s development at various ages so that when they wrote a book, they knew the thinking of their characters).
Kids think differently in just a matter of a few months. What scared them at six years old at seven is just a matter of fact. What made them laugh at four is no longer funny at five.
    Some topics include:
Step 1: - The Dream, Step 2: Creating the Vision (under your control)-What you need to 'activate' -Chatting with the birds-Drift–Driven – Design your life-What is the Gas that Runs the Motor that Feeds the Meter?
