Synopsis

In the heart of a nation divided, a young Franco-American, Nathaniel Belanger, leaves the familiarity of his Maine homeland to grapple with the tumult of the Civil War. His journey from a boy to a battle-hardened soldier is marred by the pangs of adolescence, the horrors of war, and a steadfast determination to stand for justice. As he navigates through the blood-soaked fields of America's defining conflict, Nathaniel's courage is tested in the fiery crucible of history's most brutal trials, leading him to the precipice of adulthood and the harrowing realities of survival. This is a tale of loyalty, sacrifice, and the arduous road to finding one's place in a world on the brink of change.

“This, O Best Beloved, is another story of the High and Far-Off Times…”
On the banks of the turbid Amazon, long before animals were quite what they are today, a prickly Hedgehog, a solid Tortoise, and a very puzzled Painted Jaguar collide in a battle of wits rather than claws. What begins as a night of confusion and clever wordplay becomes a tale of adaptation, cooperation, and surprise—one that explains how two unlikely creatures became something entirely new.
The Beginning of the Armadillos is one of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved Just So Stories, written with musical language, gentle irony, and a storyteller’s knowing wink. It is not a lesson disguised as a lecture, but a playful fable where intelligence triumphs over strength and curiosity reshapes the world.
Narrated with warmth and clarity by Richard Stibbard, this timeless story invites listeners of all ages to enjoy Kipling’s rhythm, humor, and imaginative charm—ending, as all good stories should, quite all right, Best Beloved.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919
Book 5 of 6 The Ashdown Forest Festival
The summary of this fifth book in the series is as follows:
The Girl Brownies prepare to perform their lantern adventure at Ashdown's first post-war Peace Festival. When their prized replica lantern disappears hours before the show, they spring into action - following muddy footprints (child-sized!), interrogating the village prankster, and ultimately discovering the lantern was mistakenly taken by historian Mr. Finch for his exhibit. After retrieving it, their performance becomes the festival highlight, blending storytelling with their real-life mystery-solving.
The adventure continues when Mr. Finch invites them to examine his museum's authentic lantern collection, hinting at future discoveries. Through the festival's celebrations, the girls witness their community healing from war while cementing their reputation as Ashdown's cleverest young detectives.
The initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel.
The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come
