Beschreibung

Utopia by Thomas More "A little, true book, not less beneficial than enjoyable, about how things should be in a state and about the new island Utopia") is a work of fiction and socio-political satire by Thomas More (1478–1535), written in Latin and published in 1516.

The book is a frame narrative primarily depicting a fictional island society and its religious, social, and political customs. Many aspects of More's description of Utopia are reminiscent of life in monasteries.

The first created original name was even longer: Libellus vere aureus, nec minus salutaris quam festivus, de optimo rei publicae statu deque nova insula Utopia. This translates, "A truly golden little book, no less beneficial than entertaining, of a republic's best state and of the new island Utopia".

Utopia is derived from the Greek prefix "ou-" (οὔ), meaning "not", and topos (τόπος), "place", with the suffix -iā (-ίᾱ) that is typical of toponyms; the name literally means "nowhere", emphasizing its fictionality. In early modern English, Utopia was spelled "Utopie", which is today rendered Utopy in some editions.
In fact, More's very first name for the island was Nusquama, the Latin equivalent of "no-place", however he eventually opted for the Greek-influenced name.

If the question is "How do you raise anti-ableist kids?" the answer is "Become anti-ableist and then model it through intention and action for your children."

Parents want to be inclusive of their disabled and neurodivergent neighbors and want to pass these values along to their children. What holds them back is not having the education or experience on how to appropriately do this. Beyond Inclusion breaks down fifteen common forms of ableism, with explanations, examples, and first-person accounts. Doing better starts with knowledge.

Author Carrie Cherney Hahn offers activities and perspectives that help parents understand the ableism that exists within them and supports their ability to process and dismantle it so that they can model anti-ableist practices for their kids. Each chapter offers children's resources that parents can use to nurture informed and anti-ableist ideals in their kids.

Inclusion is actually the bare minimum. Our work is to show our children how to become more understanding, more accepting, and more appreciative of disabled and neurodivergent people.

Madison & Adams Press presents the Civil War Memories Series. This meticulous selection of the firsthand accounts, memoirs and diaries is specially comprised for Civil War enthusiasts and all people curious about the personal accounts and true life stories of the unknown soldiers, the well known commanders, politicians, nurses and civilians amidst the war.
Detailed Minutiae of Soldier Life in the Army of Northern Virginia is not a classical memoir work from the Civil War. Author did not want to write exclusively about his experience in the war, even though he drew on his time in the army for several chapters. Instead, he wanted to underscore the importance of common Confederate soldiers within Lost Cause memory. The Lost Cause of the Confederacy is an ideological assertion made by many Confederate veterans which claimed that the cause of the Confederate States during the American Civil War was just, heroic, and not centered on slavery.

When we think of Ancient Egypt, we picture movies with mazes, pyramids, traps, mummies, and symbols. And although some of these things were definitely part of it, there is so much more to this ancient civilization.
Ancient Egypt was a North African society that grew in the lower banks of the Nile River, in what's now the nation of Egypt. Following ancient Egypt, old Egyptian civilization culminated circa 3100 BC (according to basic Egyptian chronology) with Menes' political marriage of Upper and Lower Egypt (usually related to Narmer). The Old Kingdom of the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Kingdom of the Middle Bronze Age, and the New Kingdom of the Late Bronze Age formed a series of steady kingdoms split up by periods of relative instability called Intermediate Durations.
Let’s explore some of the most important features of that society today, and try to grasp what transpired in the culture, the thoughts, the problems, and the development of the Egyptian region more than 5,000 years ago.

The true story of an airman's audacious escape from occupied France in World War Two.

Perfect for fans of The Great Escape, The 21 Escapes of Lt Alastair Cram, and The Wooden Horse.

Sir Basil Embry's Blenheim bomber was shot down in the summer of 1940.

During the course of his time in enemy territory he broke out from a column of prisoners while having a Nazi machine gun aimed at him, fought against his captors with stolen weapons, hid in stinking manure, and even posed as a member of the Irish Republican Army in order to throw his captors off the scent of his true identity.

In total he was captured three times and three times he refused to submit. Only through sheer courage and wit did he make his way back to Britain to fight and fly again. This is his remarkable story.

Anthony Richardson served as Adjutant in the same squadron as Embry later in the war and was told about these astounding exploits first-hand. This book will undoubtedly amaze all interested in moments of amazing fortitude in the face of overwhelming odds.
