Beschreibung

The present book is a bacteriologic investigation that was made at Camp Pike, Arkansas, during the period of the influenza epidemic from September 6 to December 5, 1918.The outbreak of scattered epidemics of influenza beginning in 1915–16 and finally culminated in the pandemic of 1918–19.Influenza in epidemic form also made its appearance in the army camps of the United States during March, 1918. Pneumonia followed the epidemics of influenza which occurred in the spring of 1918 and exhibited characters similar to those of the pneumonias which followed the pandemic of September and October, 1918. Influenza became epidemic in Spain about the middle of May and in other countries received the name "Spanish influenza" which is not more applicable than the designation "Russian influenza" often applied to the disease during the pandemic of 1889–90.

Learn Bitcoin is the best Bitcoin book to decide why and how you should begin to use Bitcoin. It presents all its facets from technical, economical, political and social implications. It provides a step-by-step roadmap to navigate this new financial world and sets you up with concrete recommendations on bitcoin investing, earning and storing bitcoin. Ascending the staircase of financial sovereignty will grant you personal freedom and control over your bitcoin money.
In this book you will find answers to the questions of what money is, where it comes from, its history, blockchain technology and Bitcoin specifically. It gives answers to the why and how to use Bitcoin while debunking popular myths and misunderstandings surrounding cryptocurrencies. You'll find a deep dive into Bitcoin's development since its inception in 2008 and an outlook on the future of cryptocurrency based on Bitcoin.
While mainstream media and economic pundits in the Western world think that it's just a tool for speculation, my goal is to spread the word about Bitcoin as an enabler of financial fairness and social change. What goes unmentioned in most other publications are the positive real world implications that a truly permissionless, uncensorable, neutral digital asset with a fixed supply offers.
Later the cryptocurrency book focuses on the more practical applications of Bitcoin (BTC) and how you can safely acquire, use and store it.
This is not financial advice, it's for people who want to (l)earn and understand the fundamentals of Bitcoin.

Are you fascinated by the laws of nature, Quantum Physics and its basic concepts that seem meaningless? This book serves as a guide that explains, in a simple way, some key ideas pertaining to quantum mechanics. It further discusses the works of Leonard Susskind, a physicist, and Art Friedman, a data engineer, who devised quantum theory.Quantum mechanics is a field that attempts to understand the behavior of sub-atomic objects using mathematical notions. The book explains uncertainty and time dependence by further elaborating on the principles of quantum states. It also describes the entanglement of particle and wave states, thereby offering interested readers the possibility of understanding physics at a slower tempo. This book discusses the following topics:- What is Quantum Physics- Father of quantum entanglement- Young’s double slit experiment- Illustrated examples- Illustrated theories- Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle- Einstein’s theory of relativity- EPR paradox in physics- Quantum theory and its evolution- Quantum computing[GIFT: in the beginning you'll find a link to download the book for FREE in PDF format to see the illustrations and take it with you everywhere]This guide on quantum theory has been written to simplify quantum physics to non-physicists. Despite being a particularly complex subject, readers are sure to benefit immensely from understanding scientific subjects and concepts that are as intriguing as quantic mechanics. If you want to learn more about this fascinating field, click the "Buy" button now to venture into the world of Quantum Physics!

Summer, Year-Round… On the Moon is a gripping exploration of humanity’s boldest leap yet—creating life where none existed before. Combining cutting-edge science with visionary engineering, this book takes readers to the Moon, where builder bots and high-intensity heat generators transform the barren lunar surface into a thriving off-world resort. From extracting water and producing hydrogen to crafting tunnels and domes beneath the Moon’s crust, the narrative captures the awe and challenges of turning ambition into reality. As domes rise and oxygen flows, new questions emerge: What is the cost of taming a world that never belonged to us? Blending science fiction with real-world possibilities, the story highlights humanity’s resilience, ingenuity, and the delicate balance between progress and respect for the unknown. With themes of collaboration, survival, and the desire to thrive beyond Earth, Summer, Year-Round… On the Moon is a thrilling testament to both the power and fragility of human ambition.

Of all the creatures of the deep blue, none is as captivating as the octopus. In Many Things Under a Rock, marine biologist David Scheel investigates four major mysteries about these elusive beings. How can we study an animal with perfect camouflage and secretive habitats? How does a soft and boneless creature defeat sharks and eels, while thriving as a predator of the most heavily armored animals in the sea? How do octopus bodies work? And how does a solitary animal form friendships, entice mates, and outwit rivals?

Over the course of his twenty-five years studying octopuses, Scheel has witnessed a sea change in what we know and are able to discover about octopus physiology and behavior—even an octopus's inner life. Here he explores amazing new scientific developments, weaving accounts of his own research, and surprising encounters, with stories and legends of Indigenous peoples that illuminate our relationship with these creatures across centuries. In doing so, he reveals a deep affinity between humans and even the most unusual and unique undersea dwellers.

Octopuses are complex, emotional, and cognitive beings. This is the story of what we have learned and what we are still learning about the natural history and wondrous lives of these animals with whom we share our blue planet.
