Synopsis

Imagine a Florida beach with a luscious palm tree in the background.
Now, imagine a motor home parked beneath the palm tree.
The motor home is seafoam green.
"Gypsy Traveler" is written on the motor home in a "hippy font" (artist's choice of color).
In the forefront stands a woman with a slim figure.
She is holding hands with a tall, lanky man wearing a cowboy hat. This couple is facing the motor home. They are blacked out as if they were cut from black construction paper. Somewhere in the image, I would like the artist to place two red roses.
The placement of those roses is at the artist's discretion.

There's no wrong way to be a woman. There are countless wrong ways to be a man.

James Breakwell should know. He's tried just about all of them. Journalism. Pig ownership. Felony lawn gnome theft. Whatever masculinity is supposed to be, this can't be it. But can you really fail at something no one can quite define? Apparently.

Now, in a series of funny, sharply observed, and occasionally poignant essays, everyone's favorite internet-famous father of four daughters lays down a lifetime of lessons in what it means to be a man. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll wonder what really happened to those creepy lawn gnomes on that deserted country road. (Spoiler alert: They're right behind you.)

If you ever wanted to know how to fail at altruism, dodge the priesthood, and stumble your way into unexpected wisdom, this book is for you.

How to Be a Man (Whatever that Means) presents a vision of manhood that looks very different from what you'll see on TV. And that's a good thing. Probably.

LOVE READING Romance Book of the Month
Joel Foster is a hapless twenty-something. His girlfriend, Beth Lewis, would likely have been a hapless twenty-something, too, had she not been obliterated by a very large cement truck. Some time after Beth's tragic death, Joel is still trying to juggle grief with the world of modern dating. And while he still feels like a widower, he has to find a new love before three years is up.
The catch? Just as Joel thinks he's finally falling for someone, he starts getting haunted by Beth.
It's not a ghost story, it's a love story. With ghosts.

For once, these men are the objects; I am the subject. Me, me, me.
Rosemary Mac Cabe was always a serial monogamist – never happier than when she was in a relationship or, at the very least, on the way to being in one. But in her desperate search for ‘the one’ – from first love to first lust, through a series of disappointments and the searing sting of heartbreak – she learned that finding love might mean losing herself along the way.
This Is Not About You is a life story in a series of love stories. About Henry, with the big nose and the lovely mum, with whom sex was like having a verruca frozen off in the doctor’s surgery: ‘uncomfortable, but I had entered into this willingly’. About Dan, with the goatee. About Luke, who gave her a split condom. About Frank, who was married…
But mostly, it’s about Rosemary, figuring out just how much she was willing to sacrifice for her happy ending.

Since coming to Dartmouth, Teddy Shackleford has been happier than she’s ever been. Not only is she surrounded by family and friends, but she’s also been dating Sebastian Sinclair, the fourteenth Duke of Blackmore for over a year.

Of course, she doesn’t imagine for a second that her relationship with an actual peer of the realm will be forever, but she’s determined to enjoy it while it lasts. However, when a story about her absent mother’s unusual profession is unexpectedly splashed over all the national newspapers, she’s faced with the fact that the end might come a little quicker than she’d hoped…

The fact that Teddy hasn’t seen or heard from her mother in years is irrelevant as far as the tabloids are concerned and the colourful accounts become ever more far-fetched. Advised to simply lay low until the gossips move on to the next story, she’s stunned to learn that her mother has agreed to give an actual interview to one of the newspapers. But sheer embarrassment is the least of her problems, since unbeknown to the world, Agnes Shackleford has links with the Japanese Mafia.

Teddy has no idea where her mother is, but it turns out, she’s not the only one looking…

Come to Dartmouth and join the Shacklefords for more madness, romance and mayhem, in this, the final instalment of the Shackleford Diaries.
