  Svetlana Makarovič draws extensively on folklore, especially on balladic poetry. She developed this resource in a distinctly individual fashion by faithfully maintaining the rhythm and lexis of the traditional ballad; her heartbreaking ballads speak of the dehumanized nature of the modern world.
  Through her poetry, Svetlana Makarovič brings to life many beings from Slovenian mythology that had been more or less consigned to the attic of collective oblivion: desetnica (the tenth daughter), kresnik (the summer solstice bonfire spirit), the spring-announcing deity of Zeleni Jurij ('Green George’), Pehtra (the witch or sorceress), sojenice (the Fates), škopnik (the night spirit), and so on.
  The pan-European dimension of her work is valid not only at the formal level but also with respect to the artistic worth of her poetry: as the structures of Makarovič’s ballads connect Slovenian heritage with the traditions of other European nations, so, too, does her artistic vision grow from a Slovenian vision of the world, transcending it into a universal account of human destiny.   A revolutionary musical, based on the 2006 Ipswich murders, with a book by acclaimed verbatim playwright Alecky Blythe. Named Best Musical at the 2011 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards.
  In late 2006 the everyday life of the quiet rural town of Ipswich was shattered by the discovery of the bodies of five women.
  The residents of London Road had struggled for years with the soliciting and kerb-crawling that they frequently encountered. As Steve Wright, the occupant of No. 79, was arrested, charged and then convicted of the murders, the immediate community grappled with the media frenzy and what it meant to be at the epicentre of this tragedy.
  Playwright Alecky Blythe recorded extensive interviews with the people of Ipswich. Composer Adam Cork's score is a response to the melodic and rhythmic speech patterns captured on those recordings. London Road is an experimental and challenging work which reveals the ways in which even the darkest experiences can engender a greater sense of our mutual dependence.

  Jaden, Nur and baby Aya have escaped another country and ended up in a rotting room in London. While Nur is at college, Jaden chews leaves and has visions of giant rabbits with burning red eyes. He thinks Aya is someone else, someone dangerous. But she's just a baby. Isn't she?
  The Mikvah Project is a playful and poignant play about two men who meet every Friday in a north-west London Mikvah, a traditional Jewish pool used for ritual cleansing.
  Avi is married but childless. Eitan's voice is breaking and he's having wet dreams. At the Mikvah they talk about football, the synagogue choir, women. And as their bond deepens, a transformation begins…
