Synopsis

After the death of her husband, Miriam retreats into the quiet rhythm of quiltmaking and life on the farm. Each stitch is a thread of memory, a safeguard against a world that has taken too much. Her days are measured in silence—safe, predictable, untouched by risk.

Then Levi returns.

Her late husband’s cousin, long absent from the community, arrives to help with the harvest. He brings quiet strength, gentle hands, and a past that lingers like unfinished seams. Miriam never asked for company, especially not from someone who once cared too much, too silently.

Levi has carried his own burden of guilt for years. His feelings for Miriam were always hidden, always wrong. But now, as autumn settles in and hours are shared between fences, fields, and fading light, something stirs again—soft, tentative, undeniable.

In a world stitched by grief and custom, can two hearts find the courage to create something new from the silence between stitches?

This is the third book of INVERSION, a contemporary, speculative science fiction/military saga.
After successfully negotiating for the freedom of her people, Taunia has become a thriving and dynamic nation. This left Angela both joyful and confounded. On a basic level, she had worked herself out of the job she was born for—a hardened soldier who had felt life draining from her enemies through the space between her fingers. Deployed as an administrator and diplomat operating internationally held no appeal. Leading a society that is the envy of all nations, and armed with unmatched scientific and military technology, Angela secretly wonders from what direction the next attack will come. The first effort to destroy them had failed. But will the next? The way forward has never been more perilous.

This time I'm the case that needs solving. Almost all of the criminals dead or alive that we've captured or we've had a hand in doling out their fate, have been stalking me via the ghost of my very first case.

Sal Finch. Win's vengeful cousin, angry and bitter when he lost all of Win's inheritance to me and tried to kill me, has somehow figured out how to read people on this plane and get them to do his bidding. How do I, mostly a mere mortal, fight off someone from the afterlife still holding a big, fat grudge?

I call my sister Halliday Valentine to help me fight off the forces of evil, of course! A full-time witch who has visions, and part-time sleuth just like me. But the afterlife sure has drastically changed since I lost my powers, and everyone around me becomes suspect as Sal whispers suggestively in the ears of criminals who would like nothing better than to see me kaput.

When my sister has a vision of me, a mere dead husk of a body, my soul evaporated for eternity, we know we have to take action with the mother of all spells. But with the afterlife in such an uproar, and the delicate timing of the spell, will we get this monkey off my back, or leave the world turned upside down?

Wyatt made some powerful enemies in his first three outings, and the time has come to confront them. But we know by now that Wyatt’s revenge won’t be showy, impetuous and futile; it will be pragmatic, elaborate—and still possibly futile. He holes up in Sydney, preparing to return home to Melbourne to play his enemies against each other in a dangerous double-cross that will tear down the notions of loyalty and obligation.

Wyatt is meticulous, demanding and implacable, and this may be the toughest, coolest and most uncompromising series in Australian literature.

My story is about a man in his seventies, a pseudo scientist who has his brain removed from his skull and placed inside a lab aquarium - the 'Manaquarium' so that they can study his consciousness. (FYI - They removed Einstein's brain but only checked out his basic anatomy and found that he had way more glial cells than the rest of us - what a waste.)  In this case, they get a bit further down the road. Our hero, Henry has made it his life's goal to learn more about the connections of the human soul to the rest of the vastness of space/time. Freed from the constraints of all of his biological functions, his mind is able to go where no man has gone before.
So - in the Think Tank and connected to the Super Lepton Collider, the upgraded Webb and Hubble Telescopes and the Very Large Array, Hank is able to discern something that appears to be the 2nd Big Bang! If you thought the first Big Bang was all there is, you have a huge shock in store for yourself. As it turns out, they're going on all over the place and sometimes, they even collide into one another and cause havoc over large sections of the universe.
This is also a love story that connects the reader to the meaning and purpose of Cosmic Consciousness but in a completely new way - it's Science.
All of this plays out against the background of our planet on fire and all life on Earth on the verge of extinction - even the oceans catch fire - (taken from actual recent headlines.) But cruising closer to the 2nd Big Bang with the aid of Jeff Bezos and his new Space company - everything works out in the end and all of human life becomes justified at last - but in a slightly different and higher context than the way we justify ourselves at the present..
I don't want to give away the ending. I'm hopeful that I've done Arthur C. Clarke and Kurt Vonnegut proud.

The traumatized central character of J.M. Coetzee’s Disgrace is provocatively reimagined in this “surprising, subtle, and deeply challenging” novel (Kirkus Reviews, starred review).

Two years ago, Lucy Lurie was the victim of an act of sexual violence that devastated her life. Afterwards, she becomes obsessed with the author John Coetzee, whose acclaimed novel turned her brutal assault into a literary metaphor. Withdrawn and fearful of crowds, Lucy nonetheless makes occasional forays into the world of men in her search for Coetzee himself. She means to confront him.

The Lucy in his novel, Disgrace, is passive and almost entirely lacking agency. Lucy means to right the record, for she is the lacuna that Coetzee left in his novel—the missing piece of the puzzle. Lucy plans to put herself back in the story, to assert her agency and identity. For Lucy Lurie will be no man’s lacuna. Lacuna is both a powerful feminist reply to the book considered to be Coetzee’s masterwork, and the moving story of one woman’s attempt to reclaim her identity after trauma.

Autumn, 1941. The third year of war and still the siren sounds, driving the people of Cambridge from their beds to trudge to one of the city's crowded bomb shelters. At dawn, the body of a young man is found in a shadowy corner. Did the victim know his life was in danger?

Brooke's caseload doubles when a local factory making submarine periscopes discovers it has a saboteur on the workforce. The city's police are at full-stretch. Then two more men are found dead in the city's shelters. A blackout killer is on the loose. The trail leads Brooke to the university, a laboratory which hides a brutal secret, and the key to a startling mystery.
