This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
The scream pierced through the Romanian night like a blade through silk, sharp and final. From his perch high in the ancient oak that overlooked the village of Brașov, Dimitri Moldovan's pale eyes tracked the source of the sound. Another victim claimed by the darkness that had plagued these mountains for centuries—the same darkness that coursed through his own cursed veins.
He dropped silently to the forest floor, his boots making no sound against the moss-covered earth. The supernatural grace that marked him as something other than human had become second nature over the past three hundred years. Three centuries of hunting, of feeding, of existing in the space between life and death.
The village bells began their mournful toll, signaling another death, another family torn apart by the monster that haunted their nightmares. If only they knew their true predator stood among the ancient trees, close enough to hear their prayers and taste their fear on the wind.
Dimitri had grown weary of the hunt long ago, but hunger was not a choice—it was survival. He had learned to be selective, taking only those whose absence would cause the least pain. The corrupt merchant who cheated widows. The violent drunk who terrorized his wife. The cruel landlord who evicted families into the bitter cold. In his twisted sense of honor, he had become both monster and judge, delivering a justice as dark as his nature.
