Did you know that Shah Jahan once planned to build another Taj Mahal in his empire?
The Taj Mahal is renowned for its exceptional architecture that infuses elements from various influences around the world, including the magnificence of Mughal, Persian, and Islamic architectural styles.
Shah Jahan, the reigning emperor of the Mughal Empire, had been plagued with sadness following the death of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. And so, as a parting gift to her, the mourning emperor commissioned the construction of a grand mausoleum made of white marble.
Upon completion, the Taj Mahal stood on the banks of the Yamuna River, impressing those who gazed at its marvelous façade glimmering under the bright sun. A reflective pool enhanced its perfections, but it was the mausoleum’s symmetrical design that captivated many. The symmetry could be seen in each corner of the complex except for Mumtaz Mahal’s extravagant tomb chamber—the symmetrical design was broken when Shah Jahan’s cenotaph was added years later.
Some said it was intentional, while others claimed Shah Jahan never intended to be buried beside his wife. Legend has it that the emperor was planning to build another mausoleum for himself that mirrored the Taj Mahal; it was to be placed across from the Taj Mahal and made of black marble. However, whether this is true remains a debate. Ancient sources contradict each other, which can be confusing for curious readers.
But that is about to change. With this all-new history audiobook, you can easily explore the gripping events that led to the construction of the Seven Wonders of the New World.

DARE to Say No - Policing and...

With its signature "DARE to keep kids off drugs" slogan and iconic t-shirts, DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) was the most popular drug education program of the 1980s and 1990s. But behind the cultural phenomenon is the story of how DARE and other antidrug education programs brought the War on Drugs into schools and ensured that the velvet glove of antidrug education would be backed by the iron fist of rigorous policing and harsh sentencing.Max Felker-Kantor has assembled the first history of DARE, which began in Los Angeles in 1983 as a joint venture between the police department and the unified school district. By the mid-'90s, it was taught in seventy-five percent of school districts across the United States. DARE received near-universal praise from parents, educators, police officers, and politicians and left an indelible stamp on many millennial memories. But the program had more nefarious ends, and Felker-Kantor complicates simplistic narratives of the War on Drugs. He shows how policing entered US schools and framed drug use as the result of personal responsibility, moral failure, and poor behavior deserving of punishment rather than something deeply rooted in state retrenchment, the abandonment of social service provisions, and structures of social and economic inequality.

We will also outline some of the key challenges that people with ADHD will face as well as some suggested solutions that have been provided by notable experts in the field.
This book isn’t solely intended for those who suffer from ADHD, or have been recently diagnosed with ADHD, but that it is for their wider circles. Their spouses, colleagues and friends, as it is only through the entire network working together, that the challenges faced by sufferers of ADHD and their loved ones can be overcome.

Safe Is Not Enough illustrates how educators can support the positive development of LGBTQ students in a comprehensive way so as to create truly inclusive school communities.Using examples from classrooms, schools, and districts across the country, Michael Sadowski identifies emerging practices such as creating an LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum; fostering a whole-school climate that is supportive of LGBTQ students; providing adults who can act as mentors and role models; and initiating effective family and community outreach programs. While progress on LGBTQ issues in schools remains slow, in many parts of the country schools have begun making strides toward becoming safer, more welcoming places for LGBTQ students. Schools typically achieve this by revising antibullying policies and establishing GSAs (gay-straight student alliances). But it takes more than a deficit-based approach for schools to become places where LGBTQ students can fulfill their potential. In Safe Is Not Enough, Michael Sadowski highlights how educators can make their schools more supportive of LGBTQ students' positive development and academic success.

It is the largest faith in the world, spans the globe, and stretches back in time nearly two thousand years. We are, of course, talking about Christianity.
Today, the dominance of the Christian faith appears to be a readily accepted fact. But back when it first rose to prominence, for most outside observers, such an idea would have seemed highly unlikely.
From its inception, Christianity was persecuted and hounded. Christians often paid a high price for their faith. They met underground and even in graveyards. They were misunderstood, and their message to outsiders seemed hopelessly strange and muddled. Back then, no one could have imagined that this “cult,” which often met in secret, small groups, would one day have huge churches and an even larger global presence.
Yet, despite the odds, Christianity proved to be unstoppable. How did such a thing happen? From the perspective of a believer, the answer to that question is quite clear: the divine hand of God was at work. But even if one does not subscribe to the Christian faith, there are certain aspects of Christianity that stand out and can be used as mile-markers as to how and why Christianity came to take such a prominent place in world history.
This audiobook takes a look at the full history of Christianity, from its earliest days as a persecuted sect to its acceptance and formalization at the Council of Nicaea to the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment, and the subsequent modern age.
In this audiobook, you will learn about the following:The origins of Christianity and why people flocked to the religionThe life and ministry of JesusThe first Christian disciplesThe early Christian ChurchThe Council of Nicaea and the momentous impact it had on Christian historyAnd a whole lot more!
