"Ladies" by Anton Chekhov tells the story of Fyodor Petrovitch, the Director of Elementary Schools in the N. District, who offers a vacant post to a schoolmaster, Vremensky, who lost his voice. However, when Fyodor Petrovitch's wife, Nastasya Ivanovna, asks him to consider Polzuhin, a young man she knows, for the same post, Fyodor Petrovitch refuses, stating that he does not give posts through patronage. Despite his refusal, he begins receiving letters recommending Polzuhin for the position, and Polzuhin himself appears before Fyodor Petrovitch. In the end, Fyodor Petrovitch, tired of the pressure, gives the post to Polzuhin, leaving Vremensky in a dire situation. The story is a satire on the corrupt nature of patronage and nepotism in society. Read in English, unabridged.

    Who wants to live forever?
    No one, it turns out.
Paranormal detectives Arturo Brooks and Edward Smith have a problem.
Following an ill-advised time travel adventure, Smith is immortal...and he's not happy about it. He lashes out against everyone and everything. When the detectives go on daytime television, Smith whistleblows the existence of vampires.
    The public fallout is immense.
While vampires plot revenge, the detectives and their family are targeted by protestors, monster rights activists, and an aesthetics-obsessed billionaire ready to make the men an offer that will change their lives (and afterlives) forever.
Can they die happily ever after?
    About the Series
The Brooks & Smith series brings fast-paced science fiction and fantasy with an emphasis on humor. It follows two detectives and their makeshift family on a series of increasingly absurd adventures. These books are often silly, sometimes dark, and never child friendly. This is book 2.
    About the Audiobook
Narrated by James Urbaniak (The Venture Bros., Difficult People, The Fabelmans), Time Purge will have you laughing through even its bleakest moments. It is not recommended that you listen while constructing a bridge or negotiating diplomatic peace.

A road trip novel from the author of Fup that “reads like Kerouac’s On the Road as it might have been written by Hunter S. Thompson” (The Plain Dealer).   George Gastin is a Bay Area tow-truck operator who wrecks cars as part of an insurance scam. One of the cars he is hired to demolish is a snow-white Cadillac that was supposed to be a present for the Big Bopper, who died in the Iowa plane crash that killed Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Gastin has a change of heart and takes off in the car, heading for Texas where the Bopper is buried. Armed with a thousand hits of Benzedrine and chased by adversaries real and imagined, Gastin navigates a road trip that covers many miles and states of mind.   Traveling in time from the Beat era to the dawn of the sixties, from the coffeehouses of North Beach to the open plains of America, Gastin picks up some extraordinary hitchhikers: the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest salesman,” the Reverend Double-Gone Johnson, and a battered housewife with a box of old 45s. As the miles and sleepless hours roll by, Gastin’s trip becomes a blur of fantasy and reality fueled by a soundtrack of classic rock ‘n’ roll.   “His surreal voyage into the chaos of night carries him into the heart of America’s darkest psychological landscapes. Not Fade Away shakes, rattles, and rolls.” —San Francisco Chronicle

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière, was a French playwright and actor who is considered to be one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature. Among Molière's best-known works is Tartuffe or The Hypocrite, written in 1664. Though Tartuffe was received well by the public and even by Louis XIV, its popularity was lessened when the Archbishop of Paris issued an edict threatening excommunication for anyone who watched, performed in, or read the play.Tartuffe, a pious fraud who pretends to speak with divine authority, has insinuated himself into the household of Orgon. When Orgon announces that his daughter Mariane is to marry Tartuffe instead of her fiance Valère, the rest of the family realizes the extent of Tartuffe's influence over Orgon. Tartuffe tries to seduce Orgon's wife Elmire, who traps him into revealing to Orgon his intentions toward her. Orgon throws Tartuffe out of the house, Tartuffe returns with an order of eviction for the family, and at the final moment the tables are turned and the play ends happily.
