ADAM & EVE – Psychedelic Promise 1965 London
Book 5 of 6: The Age of Wisdom
This fifth book of six is summarized as follows:
Summer 1967-1968 finds Adam and Eve at the height of their creative powers, launching underground magazine Gandalf's Thoughts from their Notting Hill flat. As their publication gains cult status, their paths diverge: Adam is seduced by commercial art success after a prestigious Mayfair exhibition, while Eve's radical feminist essay "The Female Condition" sparks national debate but alienates former allies. Their creative partnership fractures as Adam embraces mainstream recognition and Eve deepens her feminist activism. Tensions culminate at the Isle of Wight Festival, where amidst Jefferson Airplane's performance, they confront their diverging visions. In a poignant dawn conversation, they choose separation - not as an ending, but as necessary growth. Eve moves out to pursue women's liberation work, while Adam wrestles with artistic integrity. The story captures 1968's cultural crossroads, where idealism collides with reality, and two soulmates learn that sometimes love means letting each other evolve.
I do hope you enjoy this fourth instalment, and it's only $3.
The initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 1/2 minutes, called Electric Pulse, and prepares you for the start, synthesizer, bass and cymbals in a soul/funk form. The closing music, called Full Motion, ends the tale on a darker tone and at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments, genre and industrial/fearful mood but with more caution added.
The book itself runs to about 16 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

Out of Mesopotamia - A Novel

Informed by firsthand experience on the battlefronts of Iraq and Syria, Abdoh captures the horror, confusion, and absurdity of combat from a seldom-glimpsed perspective that expands our understanding of the war novel. "Abdoh's powerful novel follows an Iranian war reporter who is torn between his wearying job on the front lines and a civilian existence that he finds increasingly alienating. The book is as much a reflection on memory and art as it is a war story, and Abdoh's writing captures beautifully the absurdity of both the battlefield and modern life." —New York Times Book Review, Editors' Choice

Saleh, the narrator of Out of Mesopotamia, is a middle-aged Iranian journalist who moonlights as a writer for one of Iran's most popular TV shows but cannot keep himself away from the front lines in neighboring Iraq and Syria. There, the fight against the Islamic State is a proxy war, an existential battle, a declaration of faith, and, for some, a passing weekend affair.

After weeks spent dodging RPGs, witnessing acts of savagery and stupidity, Saleh returns to civilian life in Tehran but finds it to be an unbearably dislocating experience. Pursued by his official handler from state security, opportunistic colleagues, and the woman who broke his heart, Saleh has reason to again flee from everyday life. Surrounded by men whose willingness to achieve martyrdom both fascinates and appalls him, Saleh struggles to make sense of himself and the turmoil in his midst.

An unprecedented glimpse into "endless war" from a Middle Eastern perspective, Out of Mesopotamia follows in the tradition of the Western canon of martial writers—from Hemingway and Orwell to Tim O'Brien and Philip Caputo—but then subverts and expands upon the genre before completely blowing it apart. Drawing from his firsthand experience of being embedded with Shia militias on the ground in Iraq and Syria, Abdoh gives agency to the voiceless while offering a meditation on war that is moving, humane, darkly funny, and resonantly true

    The Pause by Isaac Asimov
The white powder was confined within a thin-walled, transparent capsule. The capsule in turn was heat-sealed into a double strip of parafilm. Along that strip of parafilm were other capsules at six-inch intervals.
The strip moved. Each capsule in the course of events rested for one minute on a metal jaw immediately beneath a mica window. On another portion of the face of the radiation counter a number clicked out upon an unrolling cylinder of paper. The capsule moved on; the next took its place.
    The number printed at 1 P.M. was 308. A minute later 256 appeared. A minute later, 391. A minute later, 477. A minute later, 202. A minute later, 251. A minute later, 000. A minute later, 000. A minute later, 000. A minute later, 000.
Shortly after 2:00 P.M. Mr. Alexander Johannison passed by the counter and the corner of one eye stubbed itself over the row of figures. Two steps past the counter he stopped and returned.
He ran the paper cylinder backward, then restored its position and said, "Nuts!"
He said it with vehemence. He was tall and thin, with bigknuckled hands, sandy hair and light eyebrows. He looked tired and, at the moment, perplexed.
Gene Damelli wandered his way with the same easy carelessness he brought to all his actions. He was dark, hairy, and on the short side. His nose had once been broken and it made him look curiously unlike the popular conception of the nuclear physicist.

FAME & Other Disasters by Maria P Frino is a celebrity drama novel and is an adult contemporary suitable for readers 18+
Fame is a double-edged sword, and nowhere is this more precarious than in the cutthroat world of television hosting.
Molly Edwards and Emma Bears Jones are inseparable—two powerhouses of television, hosting rival shows on Shine Ch33 and BBS12. But years of friendship crumble in a single night, a scandal sparked by a reckless decision at an industry party that sends their lives spiralling out of control.
In a haze of drugs and poor judgment, both women end up in bed with Richard—Emma’s lover. Molly wakes first, horrified to find herself naked between her best friend and Richard.
Desperate to forget the whole thing, Emma tries to bury the incident, but Richard isn't willing to let it go. He’s drawn to Molly’s tender touch and wants more, igniting a chain of betrayal.
When Emma uncovers their continued tryst, her fury explodes across social media, transforming a private mistake into a very public spectacle. Apologies from Molly go unanswered, and the vicious back-and-forth between the two goes viral, dragging their careers into the mud. Sponsors pull out, viewers abandon them, and both women are left without a show, their hard-won careers evaporating overnight.
Crushed under the weight of scandal and failure, Molly flees to Mumbai, India, seeking solace and purpose, hoping to mend her shattered life. Here she had helped build an orphanage during an extended gap year, Tulip Treasures. But redemption is never easy, and a near-fatal accident threatens to take away what little she has left.
As Molly fights to reclaim her life, the question remains: Can she and Emma ever reconcile, or will the wounds of betrayal be too deep to heal?
