Building Inclusion: A Practical Guide to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Architecture and the Built Environment is just that—a manual to support and provide essential guidance to the profession on these key issues. Acknowledging that the existence of EDI procedures does not necessarily ensure their use, it focuses on demonstrating behaviors that help create, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and practices to deliver inclusion.

Written by Marsha Ramroop, former inaugural EDI director at the RIBA and award-winning EDI strategist, the book targets the pain points of talent attraction and retention, public sector procurement, community engagement, and inclusive design. It utilizes case studies from organizations across the sector and the world with successful EDI practices, as well as testimonials of lived experiences of discrimination which provide important insight to the listener. The book takes an intersectional approach, considering not just the separate identities of race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender and sexual identity, disability, neurodiversity, and class but the overlap of these.

Clearly written and accessible, with key points at the end of each chapter, this book is essential for those in the profession seeking to implement EDI practices in their work and workplace.

It’s Spidmas in Spider Webdon. But this year, it’s no ordinary Spidmas. As Spid wraps presents and gets ready to welcome his friends, little does he know this will be a Spidmas he will never forget. This heart-warming Christmas audiobook features two songs: 'A Faraway Spidmas Wish' and 'Spidmas Day'. You can also find music videos of the songs at https://spidthespider.com and https://www.youtube.com/spidthespider. Spid is a lowly spider, who wants to better himself, write songs, and marry his girlfriend Bid, though he is prone to hilarious mishaps mostly of his own making. He is hard-working, cool, and a role model for young children. As well as encouraging children to read and love books, Spid's adventures also teach valuable life lessons, including determination and what psychologists call a 'growth mindset' (desire to better oneself and succeed), the importance of friendship, and sustainability. With very creative prose, Spid's adventures are fun for parents, and teachers to read to, and with, their children. They present lots of opportunities to invest dramatic licence thus helping adults and children interact and engage. The humour works at multiple levels from silly and slapstick to more sophisticated wordplay and concepts. Thus, children will discover more and enjoy reading the stories multiple times. An ironically upbeat book that asks some of today's most inimitable musicians which song they would choose to be the last one they ever hear

If you could choose the last song you'd hear before you died, what would it be and why? Your favorite song of all time? Perhaps the one you danced to at your wedding? The song from that time you got super stoned and just let the chords speak to you? It's a hard question that Mike Ayers has thought about for years.

In One Last Song, Ayers invites thirty musicians to consider what song they would each want to accompany them to those pearly white gates. Weaving together their explanations with evocative illustrations and poignant interludes—what your song to die to says about you, what songs famous people have died to, and more. The book offers insight into the minds of famous artists and provides an entry point for considering how integral music is to our own personal narratives.

Against the background of the media commercialization reform since the 1990s in China and drawing on the case of »X-Change« (2006-2019), Wei Dong investigates the affective meaning-making mechanism in the multimodal text of Chinese reality TV. The focus lies on the ways in which emotions are appropriated and disciplined by regimes of power and identity, and the ways in which affect - in this case primarily kuqing (bitter emotions) communicated by the material and the body - have the potential to challenge or exceed existing relations of power in the mediascape. Wei Dong shows how Chinese reality TV provides a historical and theoretical opportunity for understanding the affective structures of contemporary China in the dynamic process of fracture and integration.

    ABOUT THE FILM
"Reservoir Dogs" is a 1992 crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The story follows a group of criminals who are brought together to carry out a diamond heist, only for the plan to go horribly wrong. After the botched job, the gang members, who know each other only by color-coded aliases, begin to suspect that one of them is an undercover cop. The film focuses on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and violence, featuring sharp dialogue, non-linear storytelling, and intense character development. Tarantino’s unique style combines humor with brutal action, creating a tense and gripping atmosphere.

    TRIVIA SAMPLES:

“The film's budget was so low that many of the actors were asked to bring their own clothing. For example, Chris Penn wore his own track jacket, while Steve Buscemi wore black jeans instead of suit pants. Michael Madsen wore a jacket and pants from two different suits.”

“Madonna, who is referenced in the opening conversation of the film, liked the movie but disagreed with Quentin Tarantino's interpretation of her song "Like a Virgin". She gave him a signed copy of her album "Erotica" with the note: "To Quentin. It's not about dick, it's about love."

“Due to budget constraints, the production couldn't afford police assistance for traffic control. In one scene, Steve Buscemi hijacks a woman's car, but the scene could only be filmed when the traffic lights were green.”
