Songs for My Father is a raw and honest collection of free verse poetry about the author’s relationship with her father. It chronicles how his anger and abuse left her emotionally trapped for many years, and how she found her way back into herself through her art.Katherine Lazaruk takes the reader through her early childhood experiences, drawing connections between how family, music, and learning shaped the writer and artist within her. It is a poignant window into the things that so often go unspoken, the elephants in the rooms of our families. Readers who have experienced what it means to be the outsider or scapegoat in their family of origin will be uplifted by this vision of how to break cycles of abuse and reclaim themselves through therapeutic and artistic journeys.Songs for My Father is at times dark, at times uplifting, and always deeply human.

We broke our new series on learning Indonesian down into different learning stages. Start with the "Lower Beginner" books followed by the "Beginner" and "Upper Beginner" books. Next, progress to the "Intermediate" series, then test and reinforce your knowledge with the "Conversations" series.
This audiobook is divided into units. While it provides different learning patterns and accommodates various needs, this audiobook focuses on helping you improve your ability to understand, speak, and memorise Indonesian.
In Unit 1 you will hear Indonesian decoded with each syllable spoken very slowly and clearly with repetition. Immediately before each sentence is spoken, you will hear the translation, so you will always understand what is being said.
Unit 2 focuses solely on increasing your listening ability, which will improve your abilities to engage in dialogue with a native Indonesian speaker. This chapter requires you to listen very carefully to nuances in the language.
By Unit 3 you will already notice progress in your abilities to speak and understand Indonesian. The spoken translation is followed by two repetitions in Indonesian at a completely natural speed. While you are learning to process naturally spoken Indonesian, Units 3 and 4 will help you memorise new vocabulary and full sentences.
In Unit 5 you can test yourself on how much you have learned. If you are having difficulties, we suggest you revisit the listening, speaking, or memorisation section of Units 1, 2 3 or 4, according to what you need more help with.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
The Fractal Mind – How Ancient Wisdom Predicted Modern Science is a journey across time, thought, and imagination - exploring how humanity’s oldest myths, sacred symbols, and intuitive insights foreshadowed the very discoveries of modern science.
From the spiralling patterns of galaxies to the branching of rivers, trees, and neural networks, the universe is woven with fractal geometry - and the ancients seemed to know it. This audiobook uncovers how ancient cultures mirrored these cosmic patterns in story, art, ritual, and language, offering a wisdom that modern physics, biology, and information theory are only beginning to confirm.
Blending mythology, science, and philosophy, each chapter reveals hidden connections: how sacred geometry underlies life’s design, how cycles of time shape memory and prophecy, how dreams and symbols reflect the recursive patterns of reality, and how consciousness itself may be a living fractal of the cosmos.
This is not only a book about science and spirit - it is a mirror of the timeless human quest to understand our place in the infinite. The Fractal Mind invites listeners into a space where myth and mathematics meet, where story and science entwine, and where the deepest truths of nature resound with wonder.
If you have ever felt that the wisdom of the past holds keys to the mysteries of the future, this audiobook is for you.

The Creole Rebellion tells the suspenseful story of a successful mutiny on board the slave ship Creole. En route for a New Orleans slave-auction block in November 1841, nineteen captives mutinied, killing one man and injuring several others. After taking control of the vessel, mutineer Madison Washington forced the crewmen to sail to the Bahamas. Despite much local hysteria upon their arrival, all of the 135 slaves aboard the ship won their freedom there.

The revolt significantly fueled and amplified the slave debate within a divided nation that was already hurtling toward a Civil War. While this is a book about the United States confronting the ugly and tumultuous issue of slavery, it is also about the 135 enslaved men and women who were unwilling to take their oppression any longer and rose up to free themselves in a bloody fight. Part history, part adventure, and part legal drama, Bruce Chadwick chronicles the most successful slave revolt in the pages of American history.

From the outside, Alexander Portnoy appears to live a charmed life: at the age of just 33 he is a brilliant thinker, a successful lawyer and the Assistant Commissioner for the City of New York Commission on Human Opportunity. However, this façade conceals a shameful secret: Portnoy has never felt able to live up to his overprotective parents' impossible standards, and turns to uninhibited sexual encounters and compulsive masturbation as a form of release. The novel's explicit sexual content shocked many readers when it was first published, but it is now widely considered to be one of the finest English-language books of the 20th century. Doorknob Bombshells in Therapy -...

    Daniela V. Gitlin

What should a therapist do when a patient reveals critical information at the end of a session?

It's a near-universal experience among mental health practitioners: a patient drops a bombshell—a critical disclosure that moves the treatment forward—on their way out, with a hand on the doorknob. This "doorknob moment" creates a stressful dilemma for clinicians, especially when the patient is distraught. Should the clinician end the session on time, or run over and be late for the next patient?

Here, seasoned psychiatrist Daniela V. Gitlin provides clinicians with a clear, evidence-based answer. By conceptualizing the functional differences between patient and therapist in the treatment relationship as a metaphor for the functional differences between right and left cerebral hemispheres, Gitlin's argument yields a comprehensive explanation for why doorknob moments occur, why they are necessary to prevent treatment stagnation, and why ending on time makes patients feel safer to deliver them.
