Synopsis

Intelligent Socialism, Graphic Benevolence is a left wing graphic art book that supports race equality and human rights. This artwork promotes the positive aspects of left wing political theory and demonstrates that left wing ideas have evolved to challenge the negative interpretations of past socialist systems. One of these advancements is the rejection of totalitarianism. This artwork renounces left wing fascism by illustrating that past socialist systems could have existed successfully as multi-party democracies or as functioning centralised democracies that supported free speech and freedom of expression. The artwork also shows that religious beliefs have been subjugated by previous socialist systems and suggests a more tolerant stance towards human spirituality. Furthermore this artwork highlights how prior socialist systems have been overbearingly patriarchal and aims to promote sexual equality. In the past socialist systems have collapsed due to corruption and the graphic images in this book emphasize that the liberation of new advanced intelligent concepts could revolutionise and protect future socialist systems. One of these concepts is a dual power centrally planned/decentralised co-operative economic model. This political structure would facilitate the positive development of future socialist systems by supporting independent and collective business ownership by the workers combined with planned prosocial governance. The implementation of this structure would bring about an incentive based socialist meritocracy. This new economic system could further emancipate society by completely removing the monetary system. Once capitalism has been removed it could then be replaced with a technologically advanced, advanced physics based, hyper computer generated, expanded reality democratic socialism. The introduction of this new form of socialist system would then allow for positively regulated prosocial privacy and equality based private property.

Walter Lippmann's Public Opinion (1922) argues humans can't fully grasp complex issues. We rely on simplified ideas (stereotypes) and media portrayals ("pseudo-environments") to form opinions. He suggests experts, not the public, should guide society due to these limitations. Though controversial, it remains a crucial text in understanding public opinion, media influence, and the challenges of democracy.

    Democracy Unmoored - Populism...

The 2016 election of Donald Trump focused people's minds on populism, and most of the attention paid to the subject since has been on the threat it poses to wealthy democracies. In Democracy Unmoored, Samuel Issacharoff takes a far wider-angle view of the phenomenon, covering countries from across the globe: Brazil, Poland, Argentina, Turkey, India, Hungary, Venezuela, and more. Just as importantly, he focuses on populism's attack on the institutions of governance. Democracy requires two critical features: first, a commitment to repeat play such that political actors understand that what goes around comes around; and, second, institutional constraints so that the majority can prevail, albeit not by too much. Democracies must avoid the doomsday scenario in which the contending parties see the next election as the final choice between salvation and perdition. Issacharoff shows how populist governance undermines each of these two critical underpinnings of stable democracy, first by compressing the time horizon to the immediate, and second by eroding institutional constraints on strongman rule. At the same time, Issacharoff highlights the fact that ascendent populists were pushing in an open door as they found democracies in states of disrepair in the post-2008 world.

"Broadcasting Vietnam" offers a powerful and deeply human look at one of the most controversial wars in modern history and how it was brought into the living rooms of America. With an unflinching eye on the role of mass media, Davis Truman examines how televised images, frontline reporting, and photojournalism contributed to turning the tide of public opinion and fueling one of the most significant protest movements in U.S. history.
From the revolutionary leadership of Ho Chi Minh and the early days of conflict to the escalating American involvement and the devastating use of napalm and chemical weapons, this book chronicles the Vietnam War in vivid detail. Through chapters like "Napalm Girl" and "War and Mass Media," Truman highlights the undeniable impact of iconic moments that shocked a nation and galvanized a generation.
Combining historical analysis with cultural insight, Truman also explores the long-term consequences of the war, including its profound impact on American society, politics, and public trust. This is not just a book about war. It's a story about how information, images, and voices changed the course of history.
Bold, gripping, and unflinchingly honest, Broadcasting Vietnam is essential reading for anyone seeking to understand the power of media in shaping truth, perception, and resistance.

In How Fascism Works (2018), Jason Stanley explores how fascist politicians reach power, the conditions they thrive in, and the beliefs that most fascist movements are built upon. Stanley examines how fascism distorts nationalism, employs propaganda and lies, demeans education, and preys on minorities. Fascist movements may take different nationalist forms, but they share the same goal: to turn a liberty-focused nation into one where they make all the rules.
