In "Motor Matt's Launch; or, A Friend in Need," Stanley R. Matthews crafts an exhilarating tale that epitomizes early 20th-century adventure fiction, blending themes of camaraderie and resilience with technical ingenuity. This installment of the Motor Matt series humorously explores the protagonist's mechanical prowess against a backdrop of crashing waves and navigational challenges. Matthews employs a serialized storytelling style that not only captivates young readers with thrilling escapades but also imparts lessons on friendship and reliability, all underpinned by vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue reflective of the period's pulp fiction genre. Stanley R. Matthews, a prolific author of children's literature during the early automotive era, drew inspiration from the emerging fascination with machines and adventure among young audiences. His expertise in mechanics and a keen interest in popular culture inform his narratives, engaging young readers' imaginations while imparting practical knowledge of motor vehicles and teamwork. Matthews'Äôs experiences as a writer of serialized stories allowed him to refine his narrative style, making it both accessible and informative. Matthews' engaging storytelling will not only entertain readers but also encourage a love of reading and exploration of technology.

It’s 1859. The British and Americans coexist on the small island of San Juan,
located off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. They are on fairly good terms—
until one fateful morning when an innocent hog owned by a British man has the
misfortune to eat some potatoes on an American farmer’s land. In a moment of
rash anger, Lyman Cutlar shoots Charles Griffin’s pig, inadvertently almost
bringing the two nations to war. Tensions flare, armies gather, cannons are rolled
out … all because of a pig!
Emma Bland Smith’s humorous text brings to life this true story of how two great
nations once almost went to war—but learned to share instead.

Frankly, Agaton Sax should know better than to go on vacation. At least, this time, he’s managed to enjoy some rest and relaxation without stumbling into a criminal conspiracy. On the way home however, it’s a different story…from a slow train through Brosnia to a castle in Edinburgh and onwards to a motorboat speeding across the North Sea, Agaton Sax is up against a criminal mastermind who is almost - but not quite - as clever as he is.And there’s garlic. Far too much garlic. The Agaton Sax series of books were first published in Sweden, later being translated into English and printed with illustrations by much-loved artist Quentin Blake (perhaps best known for his work on the books of Roald Dahl). The English translations became immensely popular, achieving the status of the most re-issued mystery & detective series in the history of Nordic children's literature. Now, for the first time, Oak Tree Books is proud to publish the entire Agaton Sax series in audio format, newly translated for the next generation and expertly narrated by Barnaby Eaton-Jones.

    Mars the Warning
    Book 6 of 6 – the reckoning
    This final story in the series I have written is summarized below;
Six months after humanity's retreat from Mars, crystalline ships materialize around Earth in silent siege. Dr. Lin Mei deciphers their ultimatum: Depart the solar system or face annihilation—not as vengeance, but as cosmic stewardship. While General Drake advocates futile resistance, Lin orchestrates the Exodus, a desperate evacuation of 50 million aboard prototype starships. Billions are left behind as Earth's systems collapse under Martian-induced blackouts. The Martians dismantle orbital defenses with terrifying precision, proving resistance impossible. Lin's final message—"We understand. We will not return"—echoes into the void as humanity flees. Decades later, on distant Kepler-186f, Lin watches the first post-exodus generation play, humbled but hopeful. The Martians, having preserved Earth as a warning, vanish into cosmic silence. Humanity's reckoning ends not with extinction, but with exile—a second chance to evolve beyond conquest, under alien suns.
I do hope you enjoy this sixth instalment, and its only $3.
the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 plus minutes sets the scene, so to speak, this is heavy metal first but give it a chance and you will be surprised (I felt the martian beings would be extremely angry over humans trying to steal their planet hence the sound) ends with a warning sound music track like an alarm, 1 minutes plus.
The book itself runs to about 35 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

In this riff on Arthurian legend, a wizardess who is still mastering her powers goes on an epic quest to save her brother from an evil wizard in this magical adventure perfect for fans of Adam Gidwitz and Amanda Foody!

The great wizard Merlyn prophesized that his seventh descendant would do wonderful, miraculous things—baffling everyone when his great-great-many-times-great grandchild turns out to be twins. Soon enough, however, it becomes clear which sibling is the Septimum Genus: Percy is a natural with magic. Merlynda (to put it simply) is not.

But Merlynda doesn't mind. Percy has always been by her side to cheer her up (and clean up) after her magical bungles—until the twins attempt a forbidden spell to help her control her magic, and Percy vanishes through a portal and straight into the clutches of the magic-stealing, mythical Hollower.

Aided by her best friend (who longs to be a knight), a wandering musician (who is fleeing from his past), and her brand-new, fierce familiar (who yearns for a taste of funnel cake), Merlynda sets off on a quest to rescue her brother. But to defeat this ancient evil, she must discover and embrace her true powers—or else lose her brother for good.
