Sinossi

“During my time in the camps, I had got to know the enemies of the human race quite well: they respect the big fist and nothing else; the harder you slug them, the safer you will be.” -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

One of the most famous anti-Communist dissidents, Russian-born Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn was a war veteran, philosopher, historian, novelist, and political prisoner. At one time a firm believer in Marxist-Leninism, he fought for the Red Army in the Second World War until a private criticism of Joseph Stalin resulted in his arrest and eight-year imprisonment within the brutal Soviet gulag system. As he turned away from Communism and back to the Christian faith of his birth, his writings increasingly drew the ire of the Soviet authorities until his ultimate deportation in 1974.

In exile, Solzhenitsyn became disenchanted with the values upon which most modern Western nations were founded. Decrying their lack of spirituality and tradition as producing men with weak ties to God, their ancient soil, and to each other, he never ceased predicting the downfall of the West.

With a multitude of important political observations and experiences, Solzhenitsyn was a prolific writer whose works are intimidatingly long. His three-volume opus on the Soviet forced labor camps, The Gulag Archipelago, approaches 2,000 pages. Two Hundred Years Together, his two-part study of Jews in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, comes in at over 1,000 pages in the original Russian. The English translation of The Red Wheel, his four-part cycle of historical fiction about the fall of Tsarist Russia, presently weighs in at over 3,000 pages. The restored edition of In the First Circle, a novel about gulag prisoners working for Stalin’s state security apparatus, consists of more than 700 pages. Naturally Solzhenitsyn’s own memoirs are suitably immense, with The Oak and the Calf, Invisible Allies, and the first two books of Between Two Millstones spilling out over 1,700 total pages. As a great service to modern dissidents, Spencer J. Quinn has distilled the ideas and observations from Solzhenitsyn’s vast corpus into a slender volume which can be quickly consumed and learned.

Antelope Hill Publishing is proud to present Solzhenitsyn and the Right, an original work in which Spencer J. Quinn has refined Solzhenitsyn’s anti-Leftist, anti-progressive, and traditionalist political themes into nothing less than a metapolitical weapon against the enemies of humanity.

Ever opened Being and Time and wondered if your brain had a stroke?
Ever wanted to understand Heidegger, but all you got was a migraine and a vague sense of personal failure?
This is the book for you.
Being Really Confused is the hilariously brutal, no-holds-barred, sarcasm-soaked guide to Martin Heidegger’s philosophical fever dream. Whether you’re a burned-out philosophy major, a curious masochist, or someone who just wants to sound terrifyingly deep at brunch, this book unpacks the most infamously unreadable thinker of the 20th century—with jokes, rants, and zero patience for pretension.
    Inside, you'll find:
What “Dasein” actually means (spoiler: it’s just you, but anxious)
How to ruin conversations with phrases like “Being-toward-death”
Why “the they” is probably responsible for your haircut
And how to survive Being and Time without filing a lawsuit against your own brain
Equal parts roast and revelation, this book doesn’t just explain Heidegger—it drags him, hugs him, then drags him again.
    Read it if:
You want to laugh at existential dread
You love philosophy but hate suffering
You’ve been pretending to understand Heidegger and want to finally maybe mean it
Warning: May cause spontaneous existential crises, unbearable smugness, and the urge to buy a black turtleneck.

The Airborne Mafia explores how a small group of World War II airborne officers took control of the US Army after World War II. This powerful cadre cemented a unique airborne culture that had an unprecedented impact on the Cold War US Army and beyond.

Robert F. Williams reveals the trials and tribulations this group of officers faced in order to bring about their vision. He spotlights the relationship between organizational culture, operational behavior, and institutional change in the United States Army during the Cold War, showing that as airborne officers ascended to the highest ranks of the army they transmitted their culture throughout their service in four major ways—civil-military relations, preparation for potential atomic combat, helicopter airmobility, and strategic response forces.

Experiences of training and commanding airborne divisions in World War II led these men to hold sway in army doctrine by the mid-1950s. Dominating institutional thought and imparting their values, beliefs, and norms throughout the service they enjoyed a special privilege within the group culture. Williams demonstrates this impact, privilege, and power by focusing on the paratrooper triumvirate of Matthew Ridgway, Maxwell Taylor, and James Gavin and the lasting impression they made on how the US Army fought.

"A provocative history" of intrigue and class struggle in Ancient Rome—"an important alternative to the usual views of Caesar and the Roman Empire"—Publishers Weekly.

Most historians, both ancient and modern, have viewed the Late Republic of Rome through the eyes of its rich nobility—the 1 percent of the population who controlled 99 percent of the empire's wealth. In The Assassination of Julius Caesar, Michael Parenti recounts this period, spanning the years 100 to 33 BC, from the perspective of the Roman people. In doing so, he presents a provocative, trenchantly researched narrative of popular resistance against a powerful elite.

As Parenti carefully weighs the evidence concerning the murder of Caesar, he adds essential context to the crime with fascinating details about Roman society as a whole. In this book, we find reflections on the democratic struggle waged by Roman commoners, religious augury as an instrument of social control, the patriarchal oppression of women, and the political use of homophobic attacks. The Assassination of Julius Caesar offers a whole new perspective on an era thought to be well-known.

On the ground, in the air, and behind the lines, grunts made life-and-death decisions every day—and endured the worst stress of their young lives.

It was the tumultuous year 1968, and Robert Tonsetic was Rifle Company commander of the 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry in Vietnam. He took over a group of grunts demoralized by defeat but determined to get even. Through the legendary Tet and May Offensives, he led, trained, and risked his life with these brave men, and this is the thrilling, brutal, and honest story of his tour of duty. Tonsetic tells of leading a seriously undermanned ready-reaction force into a fierce, three-day battle with a ruthless enemy battalion; conducting surreal night airmobile assaults and treks through fetid, pitch-black jungles; and relieving combat stress by fishing with hand grenades and taking secret joyrides in Hueys.

During that fateful year, as unrest erupted at home and politicians groped for a way out of the war, Tonsetic and his men did their job as soldiers and earned the title "Warriors."
