"The Unnamable" is a horror short story by American author H. P. Lovecraft. It was written in September 1923, first published in the July 1925 issue of Weird Tales, and first collected in Beyond the Wall of Sleep in 1943.
Carter, a weird fiction writer (likely Randolph Carter who features in some of Lovecraft's other tales such as "The Statement of Randolph Carter") meets with his close friend, Joel Manton, in a cemetery near an old, dilapidated house on Meadow Hill in the town of Arkham, Massachusetts. As the two sit upon a weathered tomb, Carter tells Manton the tale of an indescribable entity that allegedly haunts the house and surrounding area. He contends that because such an entity cannot be perceived by the five senses, it becomes impossible to quantify and accurately describe, thus earning itself the term unnamable.
As the narration closes, this unnamable presence attacks both Carter and Manton. Both men survive and awaken later at St. Mary's hospital. They suffer from various lacerations, including scarring from a large horn-shaped object and bruises in the shape of hoof-prints on their backs.

Hop-Frog is Edgar Allan Poe’s macabre tale of cruelty, revenge, and fiery justice — a gothic masterpiece of poetic irony and horror.
In the grotesque court of a sadistic king, Hop-Frog, a crippled dwarf and court jester, endures humiliation and torment. Forced to entertain a court that mocks his deformity and his friend Trippetta, Hop-Frog endures indignity after indignity — until he conceives a terrifying plan to turn the tables in a final performance none will ever forget.
With its themes of vengeance, madness, and poetic justice, Hop-Frog delivers the chilling beauty of Poe’s dark imagination. A short story with lasting impact, it is perfect for fans of horror, gothic literature, and morally complex tales of retribution.

"The Descendant" is a horror story fragment by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, believed to have been written in 1927. It was first published in the journal Leaves in 1938, after Lovecraft's death.
The story begins with a narrator explaining that he is on his deathbed and feels the need to share a particular story before he dies. He tells of a quiet and slightly mad older man who lives in the Gray's Inn with his pet cat. The man is haggard and haunted, looking older than his years and terrified of church bells. A young man named Williams (the narrator) moves into the Inn and tries to befriend the old man and get him to share his knowledge. It is revealed that the man is Lord Northam of England. Williams' attempts are largely rebuked until one day, Williams acquires a copy of the Necronomicon, the book of the dead that captures the minds of so many intrigued by the dark arts...
