Synopsis

A thrilling journey begins aboard a yacht owned by a ruthless man named Mike Russell, where captives from a mysterious island are being held.
Amid the fog and darkness, Adam — a stranger from across the seas — decides to risk everything to set them free, aided by the bold young girl, Rayhan.
But escape is only the beginning...
Conflict soon erupts between the greedy invader seeking domination and the steadfast guardians of the island, while Adam struggles to master his powers and accept the pivotal role he must play in facing the looming threat.

Meanwhile, Manuela, Mike's daughter, pursues her own agenda with the help of scientist Claudia, where scientific breakthroughs intertwine with a dangerous game of hidden interests.

My ex-wife is the only one that can save me. Guess I shouldn't have eaten her favorite Girl Scout cookies . . .

You know you've still got it bad when you haven't taken the wedding ring off a year after the divorce. Andy has always been the only one for me. The brawn to my brains. The hot fudge to my vanilla ice cream. The . . . well you get the idea.

But this isn't the reunion I would've hoped for. With feral Orcs and a psychopath bent on world domination hunting us, it doesn't exactly leave a lot of time to show her how 'great' I'm doing without her. Or to ask her why she left me without an explanation.

Between the fights about who actually left socks all over the apartment (totally her) and who was the biggest workaholic (maybe a tie), we start to realize that the past isn't going to stay buried. All it takes is one illicit moment on the back of a motorcycle for us to reignite the passion that used to burn so hot between us.

Returning to a love that broke both our hearts isn't going to help us survive. In fact it might just kill us. Problem is, we were never good at resisting one another.

    Contains mature themes.

Robert, a struggling mid-management executive really, really gets excited by the magic of Christmas. His wife no longer loves him, his favourite (adopted) uncle has died and a man he was in charge of has been eaten by a fox at a conference in Banbury. Still, by Christmas Day, everything will be fine, yeah?
A delightful, warm, short festive tale about the tingling sensations of all things Yuletide from the pen of award-winning playwright, Paul Richards. It does contain a little swearing, but only for emphasis, you understand. Basically, it’s really lovely but it’s not a fairytale or anything, so not for the kids, and he wrote it in 2014 so it does reference the Queen’s speech and the iPhone 6.

Inspired by the intricate illustrations of Sidney Sime, the stories blend mythic narratives, poetic prose, and cosmic mystery. This pioneering work served as a vital inspiration for legendary authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien and H.P. Lovecraft.

Short stories have always been a sort of instant access into an author’s brain, their soul and heart. A few pages can lift our lives into locations, people and experiences with a sweep of landscape, narration, feelings and emotions that is difficult to achieve elsewhere.

In this series we try to offer up tried and trusted ‘Top Tens’ across many different themes and authors. But any anthology will immediately throw up the questions – Why that story? Why that author?

The theme itself will form the boundaries for our stories which range from well-known classics, newly told, to stories that modern times have overlooked but perfectly exemplify the theme. Throughout the volume our authors whether of instant recognition or new to you are all leviathans of literature.

Some you may disagree with but they will get you thinking; about our choices and about those you would have made. If this volume takes you on a path to discover more of these miniature masterpieces then we have all gained something.

In this volume our authors take on War, the destroyer of humanity. Our literary masters bring the true scale of the horror in sometimes tiny fragments of peoples lives to reveal its true and deep-felt effects.

When an acclaimed novelist purchases the summer estate of her youth on Orcas Island, Washington, she voices three intentions: to provide a respite for her hardworking husband; to preserve the innocence of their precocious thirteen-year-old son; and to renovate a cliffside cabin into the writing retreat of her dreams. But there’s also an unfulfilled promise that has haunted Meredith Lila Gaines since the day she fled the property and the life she knew.
Her latest bestselling psychological thriller shares its title with the remote manor house, and not for the reasons most think. Frightening rumors have long swirled throughout the San Juan Islands regarding the property, and according to locals, those tales aren’t to be taken lightly. Meredith knows this firsthand; it’s the reason she’s returned for what lies beneath the emerald waves of Rosario Strait . . .
