Synopsis

When four fun-loving Southern ladies hit the road to attend a teaching conference in Savannah, Georgia, they hope that the week will be one to remember. It turns out they're right-but not for the reasons they all imagine. In their lives, most things they face are mundane-what to make for lunch, how to make the kids pay attention in class, and how to work with the school's budget committee. They all jumped at the chance to get away. For Debra, Ashley, Brianna, and Mary Sue, this is a working vacation, one where they'll all learn a little and laugh a lot. It's a chance to live the good life for a few days. They all love the luxury of their conference hotel-especially the view. So when one of them suggests an evening drive across that spectacular bridge they admire from their rooms, they hit the road again. But these teachers have missed the lesson about being prepared: they soon find themselves stranded on a dark country road. Debra offers to save the day, so she grabs a gas can and heads boldly into the darkness. But when Debra doesn't come back, the threesome must now work together to solve the mystery. Rich with local color, laughter, drama, and more, this thrilling adventure of everyday people trapped in an extraordinary experience is a little slice of lives lived loud and proud.

In a small, isolated town on the North Norfolk coast, Fran's life is unravelling.

As she fills her days cleaning the caravan park she owns, she is preoccupied by worry - about the behaviour of her son, the growing absence of her husband and the strained relationship with her sister. Her one source of solace is slipping out to the beach early in the morning, to watch the birds.

Small-town tension simmers when a new teacher starts at the local school and a Romany community settle in the field adjoining Fran's caravan park. From the distance of his caravan, seventy-year-old Tad quietly watches the townspeople - mainly, Fran's family.

When the schoolteacher and Fran's brother-in-law both go missing on the same night, accusations fly. Yet all Fran can seem to care about is the birds.

In The Flemish House, Maigret arrives in the rainy, flood-prone town of Givet on the Belgian border to solve the case of a missing young woman. He has been hired by the wealthy Peeters family, who are suspected of being responsible, to clear their name. As he plumbs the mysteries, prejudices, and hidden dramas of this town caught between two worlds, he has to decide whether there was foul play involved in the vanishing of the young woman, or if she has simply been chased away by the oppressive air of this benighted and fraught no-man’s-land. As he investigates, he finds himself becoming increasingly fascinated by Anna Peeters, the daughter of the family, who, stoic and unemotional, seems to be the linchpin in the strange compact that keeps the family together.A Macmillan Audio production from Farrar, Straus and Giroux

Math genius Boogie Wu struggles to redeem her slandered reputation by pushing the boundaries of her mind in a Zen monastery until she unlocks the secret of an ancient mathematical conjecture.
Little does she know that her groundbreaking solution becomes the key to her former employer Magenta Corporation's most disruptive technology: a job-taking AI service in the cloud that thinks by simulating connections of the human brain.
When Boogie discovers whose brain Magenta is simulating, she must confront the ethical and spiritual consequences of a technology that doesn’t just think, but feels.
As it becomes clear that profit is only the start of Magenta’s world-resetting ambition, to prevent them tipping the world into chaos that only an enhanced digital mind can resolve, she will have to solve a new kind of equation, one whose only solution equals danger.
