  Since his undergraduate days in Cambridge, George Yeo has spoken and written much in and out of government. Many remember the things which he said or wrote years ago. This book is a compilation of some of his best speeches and writings which were selected by Asad Latif and Lee Huay Leng in consultation with him.
  
  The book has a rather unusual title because there are many aspects to George Yeo which makes him difficult to classify. As a student leader, he was radical but conciliatory. In the Singapore Armed Forces, he was atypical, moving from the Army to the Air Force before becoming Director of Joint Operations and Planning. In politics, he is fondly remembered by artists, journalists, doctors, businessmen and foreign diplomats, and by his colleagues and constituents. His own staff said he had a curious mind. They complained that he rarely used the drafts which they had prepared for him.
  
  George Yeo describes himself as a Taoist even though he is a Roman Catholic and is now on the Papal staff. Buddhists are surprised he championed the revival of Nalanda University as an international project. He remains close to Singaporeans of different races and religions even though he has a deep sense of his own ancestral roots and religion. In politics, he has been described both as a liberal and a conservative. In his Parliamentary maiden speech, he spoke of the importance of democracy but has repeated many times that democracy is only a means and not an end in itself. He has a deep interest in history which partly explains his seeing the re-emergence of China and India earlier than most others.
  
  The bonsai and the banyan are metaphors he uses for Singapore. Singapore is a city-state and must never have an inflated view of itself. The bonsai describes Singapore modestly, but he adds that the bonsai can be intensely interesting and valuable. The banyan provides shade and we are grateful for it, but too much makes us weak.   Noted internationally known Self-help advocate and teacher of devotional yoga Prana Govinda Das was born in Liverpool, England in 1968 admittedly a pretty good year for all things bright and beautiful. He says, "From as early as I can remember I had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and a desire to understand the true nature of man and this world we live in. I was also always seeking out people who could answer all the questions I had about life, the universe and everything." However, even after learning and experiencing so much I was still left incomplete." in 2001 during the young man's sixth trip to India, he travelled to Vrindavan, a holy town associated with Lord Krishna south of Delhi. It was there he met his spiritual guide, and mentor Srila Bhaktivedanta Naryana Goswami. Some twenty years on, Prana has been resident in his teacher's temples all over the world, particularly India, Australia, America, and Europe.   Aimee Semple McPherson (October 9, 1890 – September 27, 1944), also known as Sister Aimee, was a Canadian-American Los Angeles-based evangelist and media celebrity in the 1920s and 1930s. She founded the Foursquare Church. McPherson has been noted as a pioneer in the use of modern media, especially radio, and was the second woman to be granted a broadcast license. She used radio to draw on the growing appeal of popular entertainment in North America and incorporated other forms into her weekly sermons at Angelus Temple. This is a recording of one of her sermons.

  Ancient Greece, widely recognized as the birthplace of western civilization thrived from 800 BCE to 146 BCE. It is renowned for its contributions, to domains, including literature, philosophy, politics, arts and sciences. These contributions have had an impact on societies. 
  The civilization was characterized by a multitude of city states with Athens and Sparta being particularly notable. Athens, considered the cradle of democracy prioritized philosophy, education and cultural pursuits. It gave rise to thinkers like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. In contrast Sparta embraced a society that emphasized training and excellence. 
  The Ancient Greeks practiced a religion with a connection to their daily lives. One of their religious and sporting events was the Olympic Games held every four years in honor of Zeus. 
  Greek literature holds status due to works like Homers poems The Iliad and The Odyssey. Playwrights such, as Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes created enduring tragedies and comedies that delved into the complexities of existence. 
  In the realm of science and mathematics the Greeks achieved significant breakthroughs. 
  Prominent individuals such, as Pythagoras, Euclid and Archimedes played roles in advancing the fields of geometry and calculus. Meanwhile philosophers, like Thales and Democritus laid the foundations for reasoning. 
  Turning to politics Ancient Greece primarily relied on city states, each governed by its system. Athens implemented a form of democracy where citizens actively participated in decision making processes while Sparta had an disciplined structure. 
  Ancient Greece's influence can still be seen in various aspects of modern society, including government, philosophy, language, art, and sports. Its legacy continues to resonate in the Western world, making it one of the most impactful civilizations in history.
