Reviews:

“Last evening I watched the play Swansea Boy. Wow! Absolutely fantastic. Beautifully written by Sean Mathias with an exceptional cast and housed at Volcano Theatre. Immersive theatre at it’s best. I laughed and I cried. A story of love and adversity set against the backdrop of Gower, London and Morocco. Engaging and alluring” ❤️ – Instagram review

"Tender, gritty, and deeply human, Swansea Boy is a raw portrait of a young gay man’s journey through desire, grief, and self-discovery, told with aching vulnerability and the kind of honesty that lingers long after the curtain falls." **** - netgalley review

"Swansea Boy is a play set between the 1980's and 1990's and follows Colin, a young Welsh man who dreams of being a painter... The play's themes of sex and love were overt from the very first word. This play is filled with reflections, humor and tragedy, and the life of Colin and those he loves makes it an emotional read." ***** - netgalley reviewerAbout the author:

Abseiling lesbians! Queers in classrooms! Perverts panicking parents!
Thatcher's Section 28, which banned the 'promotion' of homosexuality in schools, was the landmark legislation that silenced a generation, offered a global blueprint for LGBTQ+ oppression and galvanised a movement.
Billy Barrett and Ellice Stevens's After the Act is a funny, camp and unapologetically queer musical about how a moral panic gripped a nation – and a community decided to fight back. Its inspiring, often heartbreaking, stories of teachers, students and activists impacted by the legislation are accompanied by a joyously exuberant score written by Frew and inspired by the music of the 1980s.
It was first produced in 2023 by the award-winning theatre and film company Breach at New Diorama Theatre, London, before performances during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a UK tour in 2024.

What do you do when you are a god – but powerless and unable to prevent one of your favourite species from their insatiable, accelerating death wish? Do you try to shout louder and more insistently, or instead reinvent yourself as a troubadour of romantic ruin? Such are the dilemmas posed by Rishi Dastidar in his third poetry collection Neptune's Projects, a reshaping of mythology for the climate crisis era which gives bold consideration to the stark choices we face.
A post-apocalyptic jig and reel, these poems are compelling, deadpan yarns of the sea, full of both fury and fun. In Neptune's Projects the end of humanity is made wry, thrilling – and alive.

Reputedly the best-selling poetry collection of the 20th century, 'Songs of a Sourdough' is best known for Robert W. Service's classic Yukon ballads, 'The Shooting of Dan McGrew' and 'The Cremation of Sam McGhee'. Service was born in Preston, Lancashire, and grew up in Scotland. In his twenties, he made his way to Canada and settled in the Yukon where he worked as a bank clerk but evidently dreamed of more adventurous pursuits. Service's readings of his poems show that he could adopt either a Scottish or North American accent. Here they are read in an accent that is not too far removed from the place of his birth. - Summary by Phil Benson
