Beschreibung

Definition and sense of the “meaning” were a great concern for the Indian thinkers. In order to finalize this, they have examined all the components of a communicative unit such as syllables, words, sentences and intentions of the speakers. After this examination, different philosophers, specifically, MÁmÀÚsakas, NaiyÀyikas and ŒÀbdikas have arrived at the conclusion that sentence is an essential component to convey the sense of meaning to the listener. The theory of akhaõçavÀkya is based on the indivisible sphoÇa theory and the sentence-meaning is experienced by the concept of pratibhÀ. The division of sentence as per the priority of words occurred on the basis of mutual expectancy by which the intended meaning may be assumed by the listener. The VÀkyapadÁya of Bhart¦hari (sixth century) is a text which elaborately explains the notions on sentence. The book systematically presents the philosophical dimensions of grammatical units. The author has attempted to present the philosophy of language in a Bhart¦harian perspective. To substantiate his views, syntactic and semantic thoughts in India are elaborately discussed.Though the significance of the work can only be understood by those scholars who are well versed in HelÀrÀja and PuõyarÀja, it will, undoubtedly, remain an asset to the field of grammatical deliberations.

Marcus Garvey's The Tragedy of White Injustice is a powerful indictment of white racism and colonialism.Garvey argues that the white race has a long history of oppressing and exploiting non-white people all over the world, and that white racism is not simply a matter of individual prejudice, but rather a deeply ingrained system of oppression that is maintained by white institutions and social structures.Garvey also discusses the impact of white racism on Black people, arguing that it has caused them to suffer physical, psychological, and spiritual damage, and has prevented them from reaching their full potential.Garvey's book is a call to action for Black people to unite and resist oppression, and to build their own institutions and economies so that they can achieve self-determination.

When most people think of “ancient American civilizations,” the Aztec, Maya, or Inca cultures probably come to mind immediately, because the societies in Mesoamerica and South America left behind permanent structures for millions of visitors from around the world to see each year. But in fact, there were people inhabiting the region over 11,000 years earlier.
The discovery of distinct arrow tips throughout the United States, Canada, and parts of northern Mexico in the early 20th century, often referred to by archaeologists as projectile points, is a testament to the success of the Paleolithic culture, now known as Clovis. Modern scholars point to the extensive nature of Clovis archaeological sites as proof of its importance, yet these same scholars have only begun to uncover this culture, and as they do, more questions are raised than there are answers. Although most of the questions are not controversial, some of the answers scholars have forwarded are. Any examination of the Clovis culture begins with what is known. Archaeologists know the approximate chronological and geographic range of the Clovis culture, and they can identify what made the Clovis people unique. These were the projectile points the Clovis people made, setting them apart from most people that came before and after them
In North America, from about 1000-1500 CE, an equally complex culture formed along the banks of the Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio Rivers. From Red Wing, Minnesota to Greenhouse, Louisiana, and from Spiro, Oklahoma to Macon, Georgia, societies built impressive mound structures that served as ritual platforms, burial sites, and residences for the elites. These mounds also served as the focal points of urban areas of varying sizes that were connected to each other through trade and ideology, forming a culture that modern historians have since designated the “Mississippian culture.”

"When we think of ancient Rome, it's impossible not to think of Christianity, one of its most notable exports—but what if it hadn't been? This is the question provoked by classicist Philip Freeman in Julian, an appealing new entry in Yale's Ancient Lives series, which tells the story of the old faith's last imperial torchbearer."—Anna Heyward, New York Times Book Review

Flavius Claudius Julianus, or Julian the Apostate, ruled Rome as sole emperor for just a year and a half, from 361 to 363, but during that time he turned the world upside down. Although a nephew of Constantine the Great, the first Christian emperor of Rome, Julian fought to return Rome to the old gods who had led his ancestors to build their vast empire.

As emperor, Julian set about reforming the administration, conquering new territories, and reviving ancient religions. He was scorned in his time for repudiating Christianity and demonized as an apostate for willfully rejecting Christ. Through the centuries, Julian has been viewed by many as a tragic figure who sought to save Rome from its enemies and the corrupting influence of Christianity. Christian writers and historians have seen Julian much differently: as a traitor to God and violent oppressor of Christians. Had Julian not been killed by a random Persian spear, he might well have changed all of history.

Law, Legislation, and Liberty is a profound exploration of the foundations of a free society and the principles that sustain it. This groundbreaking work examines the relationship between laws crafted by governing bodies and the organic, spontaneous order that emerges from individual interactions within a society. Divided into three parts, the book addresses the philosophical underpinnings of freedom, the construction of legal systems, and the dangers of centralized planning. With clarity and intellectual rigor, it challenges readers to rethink their assumptions about the role of government, democracy, and the rule of law in preserving liberty.

Primordial American Terrorists is a new interpretation of events leading to the end of legalized slavery in the United States. Along the way, it reveals the duality of the terrorist persona, a profile the author pioneered in his earlier book, Sofia Perovskaya, Terrorist Princess. It tells the story, not only of terrorists who struck savagely out of intense passion for a cause, but also of their direct comparison with equally passionate men and women who dedicated themselves to social justice through advocacy and other non-violent methods.
