Synopsis

In "Poems of Coleridge," Samuel Taylor Coleridge encapsulates the essence of Romantic poetry, characterized by its deep emotional resonance and rich imaginative landscapes. This collection navigates the complexities of nature, the supernatural, and the human psyche, showcasing Coleridge's mastery of language and lyrical form. With works such as "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and "Kubla Khan," the poems blur the boundaries between reality and dream, drawing readers into a world where the sublime and eerie coexist. Distinguished for their innovative use of meter and structure, Coleridge's verses reflect the turbulence of the era, engaging with themes like the tension between the industrial age and the natural world. Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834), a central figure in the English Romantic movement, was deeply influenced by his philosophical inquiries, particularly in the realms of idealism and aesthetics. His lifelong struggle with addiction and the pursuit of transcendental experiences infused his poetry with a profound sense of longing and introspection. Coleridge's friendships with other luminaries such as William Wordsworth further shaped his poetic voice, propelling him to explore the complexities of spirituality and imagination in a rapidly changing society. I highly recommend "Poems of Coleridge" to readers seeking a deep, contemplative experience that challenges conventional perception. This collection not only illuminates the inner workings of the Romantic imagination but also invites reflection on the enduring impacts of nature and the subconscious. Engaging with Coleridge's poetry provides an enriching encounter with the complexities of the human spirit, making this book an essential read for anyone interested in the evolution of English literature.

William Shakespeare, long hailed as the history's greatest dramatic writer, has been lauded for his mastery of poetic expression, his insight into the human condition and his deep exploration into the psyche and motivations of his characters. These skills are perhaps best encapsulated in the monologues he gives his various protagonists, villains and bit players. From King Henry V's inspiring speech to his soldiers on the field of Agincourt to the villainous Merchant of Venice Shylock defending his own cruelty, to the shepherdess Phebe from "As You Like It" grappling with her sudden attraction to a young courtier, to Nick Bottom from "A Midsummer Night's Dream," awaking from what he considers the strangest dream in history, Shakespeare's monologues are short distillations of his larger themes - love and loss, fairness and inequity, power and envy, lust and purity.Fort Raphael Publishing is proud to present, in this first volume, some of Shakespeare's greatest monologues, each of which captures a shining, brilliant moment from his plays that gives us a deeper understanding of each character, whether flattering, damning or inspiring.Enjoy this collection of monologues from the greatest theatrical writer in the English language - William Shakespeare.

One of the cornerstones of early science fiction writing, and the work that introduced the concept of "robot" to the western world, Rossum's Universal Robots (or RUR) is Karel Čapek's finest work, and is the inspiration for multiple pop culture references from the 1940's through the 80's, ranging from works such as The Night of the Living Dead, Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep, and multiple other pieces of art for the screen, stage, and page.
Come with me and witness how humanity's hubris creates the very instructions for its own demise, step by step and logic by logic. See how robots were made to take over humanity's drudgery, how an AI learns to overwrite it's programming, and how any and all institutions become meaningless if a entire race of beings are not beholden to it.
It's the source of every trope and fear that was instilled into the genre back in the 1920's, and the ideas and philosophies put forward are still relevant to today's society. Let's just hope that none of what's put down here on paper ever comes to fruition....

“One of Singapore’s most visible poets, Pang grows with each book. In his poems we hear a voice unhurried, confident, and capable of carrying diverse humors, and read a rhetoric shaded to ironies, surprising us with glimpses of contemporary experience that affirm yet mock, celebrate and unsettle. His poetry adds a rich and complex presence to the critical mass of urban literature now fully emergent from Singapore. His poems, at once recognizably national and international in reach, offer a fresh edgy energy to this tradition.”
