Synopsis

Tree Clones uncovers the hidden world of clonal tree colonies, where entire forests originate from single trees through vegetative reproduction, like rhizomes and root suckers, challenging the traditional view of forests as collections of individual organisms. This fascinating realm of plant physiology reveals how trees clone themselves, emphasizing the ecological importance of these clonal forests. These forests play unique roles in bolstering biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and resilience to environmental changes. The book explores the biological mechanisms behind clonal reproduction and the ecological impact of clonal forests, highlighting their evolutionary adaptation for thriving in challenging environments. You'll discover how resource sharing and disease resistance contribute to the long-term survival of these clonal populations. Structured in three parts, the book introduces clonal reproduction, delves into the ecological characteristics of clonal forests, and examines the evolutionary history of tree cloning, providing a scientific perspective enriched with case studies and illustrations.

Allie Casazza was tired of feeling it was her against the laundry in her home. She wondered if somewhere beneath her frantic days and the mountains of toys in the playroom she would ever find joy and peace in motherhood. Then she discovered the abundance . . . of less.
As she purged her home of excess stuff, Allie discovered a lifestyle that strengthened her marriage, saved her motherhood, and helped her develop her gifts in a way that no amount of new kitchen appliances or new organizing system ever could.
Research studies show a direct link between stress levels and the amount of physical possessions people have in their homes, and Allie has seen that truth play out in her own life and in the lives of hundreds of thousands of other moms she has mentored through her business and online courses. She proclaims:

  • Enough Is Enuf - Our Failed Attempts to Make English Easier to Spell - cover

Enough Is Enuf - Our Failed...

    Gabe Henry

A brief and humorous 500-year history of the Simplified Spelling Movement from advocates like Ben Franklin, C. S. Lewis, and Mark Twain to texts and Twitter.
Why does the G in George sound different from the G in gorge? Why does C begin both case and cease? And why is it funny when a philologist faints, but not polight to laf about it? Anyone who has ever had the misfortune to write in English has, at one time or another, struggled with its spelling.
So why do we continue to use it? If our system of writing words is so tragically inconsistent, why haven’t we standardized it, phoneticized it, brought it into line? How many brave linguists have ever had the courage to state, in a declaration of phonetic revolt: “Enough is enuf”?
The answer: many. In the comic annals of linguistic history, legions of rebel wordsmiths have died on the hill of spelling reform, risking their reputations to bring English into the realm of the rational. This book is about them: Mark Twain, Ben Franklin, Eliza Burnz, C. S. Lewis, George Bernard Shaw, Charles Darwin, and the innumerable others on both sides of the Atlantic who, for a time in their life, became fanatically occupied with writing thru instead of through, tho for though, laf for laugh, beleev for believe, and dawter for daughter (and tried futilely to get everyone around them to do it too).
Henry takes his humorous and informative chronicle right up to today as the language seems to naturally be simplifying to fit the needs of our changing world thanks to technology—from texting to Twitter and emojis, the Simplified Spelling Movement may finally be having its day.

Desperate, she took 25 - $100 bills from large stacks in his desk. When he discovers the missing money he tells the Cuban Mob in Miami that she took all of their cash and a large stash of cocaine.
The Cuban Mob asks their Columbian supplier to go with Eric to Germantown to recover Abby and anything she may have taken.
Wolf's family is under siege by members of the Cuban Mobsters and the Columbian. They bring several men to Germantown.
Wolf, his two girls, Annette and her family are all attacked by Eric and his companions. Then, Wolf's third daughter shows up, she is an 18-year-old child from a former lover, who was killed by the Cuban mob.
Wolf has help from his close friend, Chick Farrel and the FBI. The Cuban gives up to work on a drug deal in Memphis. The FBI and the DEA thwart his plans.
Annette's baby son, Jon, is caught in the crossfire as men attack her home. Looking back, Annette refers to the three girls as the Three Graces, from Greek Mythology. All of this is giving Wolf, Annette and their family, a case of Three Graces Bluz.
