Synopsis

Kabbalah is an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought in Jewish mysticism. It is Kabbalah is a set of esoteric teachings meant to explain the relationship between the unchanging, eternal God–the mysterious Ein Sof ("The Infinite")–and the mortal, finite universe (God's creation). It forms the foundation of mystical religious interpretations within Judaism. Historically, Kabbalah emerged from earlier forms of Jewish mysticism, in 12th- to 13th-century Spain and Southern France, and was reinterpreted during the Jewish mystical renaissance in 16th-century Ottoman Palestine. Jewish Kabbalists originally developed their own transmission of sacred texts within the realm of Jewish tradition. For kabbalists, ten utterances in Genesis with which God created the world are linked to the ten sefirot—the divine structure of all being. According to the Zohar and the Sefer ha-Yihud, the Torah is synonymous with God._x000D_ Table of Contents:_x000D_ "The Cabala" by Bernhard Pick is a brief critical introduction to the Kabbalah._x000D_ "Sefer Yetzirah" or, The Book of Creation" is one of primary sources of Kabbalistic teaching._x000D_ "The Sepher Ha-Zohar" or, The Book of Light – Zohar, or Splendor is the most important text of Kabbalah, at times achieving even canonical status as part of Oral Torah. Happy birthday dear Mom- Grammy, Tora, Auntie, Happy birthday to you!” The people that fill my screen – each in their own little box – sing and smile once more before disappearing, one by one. Blowing them kisses I say, “Thank you all. I love you!” As I reflect on this sixty-fifth birthday of mine, filled with the forced distances of our pandemic era, the phone rings, jarring me back into the moment. “Hello Billy,” I say. “Hey, Tor.” My cousin’s tone is serious. His words clipped.“What’s going on? Everyone okay?” I ask.“Yes, we’re fine but… well, I was just driving by your Uncle Einar’s place… I hate to tell you this, Tora, but somebody broke in. The sheriff is coming out in the morning. It’s quite a mess in there. Looks like every drawer and cupboard was emptied out.”Uncle Einar’s home stands empty much of the year, and is the original family homestead my grandparents built in Solbakken, Minnesota, in the early 1900’s after immigrating from Norway. “What? Are you kidding? Who would do that?” I spout. “You need me to come up there?” A house. A mess. A mystery. Amongst the scattered papers and photographs, intriguing questions lay unanswered in the Anderson family lineage, hidden for decades. When a stash of ancient coins is found, and a gifted stranger moves in next door, windows are opened to incredible possibilities that transcend imagination and transport Tora throughout her family’s generations.

We often pray with the saints in our Catholic practice or see paintings of angels by famous artists, but who are they really? What do they do? Can they really intercede for us?

Elizabeth Klein, assistant professor of theology at the Augustine Institute, leads us through a soul-inspiring exploration of Catholic teaching on angels and saints and why they matter to us as individuals and to the Church.

Throughout the book, Klein answers common questions about the angels and saints in order to give us a deeper understanding and appreciation of the role they play in our lives, the Mass, and in the life of the Church. She also equips us to better discuss with non-Catholics what we believe about angels and saints.

In Angels and Saints, Klein explains that these heavenly companions are gifts from God. They are our friends and are joined to us in the mystical Body of Christ. They invite us to love God and each other perfectly as they do.

The Dhammapada Vol01 - The Way...

The Dhammapada is a collection of sayings of the Gautama the Buddha in verse form and one of the most widely read and best known Buddhist scriptures. This is volume one of a 12-volume series of Osho Talks, where Osho brings Buddha's Dhammapada into the 21st century, opening them for a new understanding for contemporary mankind.
In alternating chapters, Osho comments on specific sutras of Buddha and responds to questions from his audience, deepening the understanding of these timeless works. "My talking on Buddha is not just a commentary: It is creating a bridge. Buddha is one of the most important masters who has ever existed on the Earth - incomparable, unique."
The setting of these talks is an open-air auditorium at the Osho International Meditation Resort in Pune, India. Osho and his audience sit surrounded by trees, and the elements of nature - the chirping of birds, wind, and the cracking bamboos as well as the distant sound of the local Pune-Mumbai morning train - are all parts of these recordings and give them a truly existential flavor.
Osho employs his penetrating insight and wonderful humor to remove the dust of many misunderstandings gathered on Buddha's teachings and again emphasizes meditation over dogma, meditation being Buddha's greatest contribution to the development of human consciousness.
"Buddha transformed the word meditation. Meditation had always been something of the mind, and Buddha brought a new quality, so totally new, diametrically opposite to the old meaning: He said meditation means a state of no mind. It is not concentration; it is not contemplation. It is not thinking; it is not thinking about God. It is not even prayer, because thinking is of the head, intellectual; prayer is emotional. That is another side of the head, not very far away from it - a different language used by another part of the head."
Osho Talks are "meditating talks", allowing the listener an experience of meditation. "These words of Buddha come from eternal silence. They can reach you only if you receive them in silence."
