Renowned Jewish vocalist and writer Elizabeth Schwartz’s first book of fiction, “The Sweet Fragrance of Life & Other Stories” is a meditation on historic European Jewish Culture seen through the lens of a woman’s point of view.
As if Sholem Aleichem and Angela Carter had a child, The Sweet Fragrance of Life & Other Horror Stories explores European Jewish history, culture, and real world events through a feminist, shtetl perspective.
This is an eerie collection of new Jewish themed horror stories from a world that was. A Rabbi commits the gravest of sins as he lusts for a younger wife, evil is lurking in an apartment building in pre-war Germany and a young girl experiences hell at sea. These are thrilling and dark stories, but also political reflections about racism and misogyny.

The Harbor was written in 1915 by Ernest Poole. The novel is considered by many to be one of Poole’s best efforts even though his book, The Family won a Pulitzer Prize. The Harbor is a fictional account of life on a Brooklyn waterfront through the eyes of Billy as he is growing up. The novel starts with Billy the child, living on the harbor with his father, mother, and sister, Sue. During this time he also meets Eleanor who, at that time, he considers to be strange. She later becomes an important character in the novel. His father owns a shipping business, is hard-working, and can think of little else. As a young man, Billy begins to detest the harbor and longs for escape to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a writer and avoiding his father’s business. With his mother’s blessing, he takes flight to Paris to hone his trade. While in Paris, he meets Joe Kramer (J.K.) and a sometimes stormy relationship begins. J.K. forces him to confront human situations that Billy would prefer to close his eyes to. Billy eventually returns to the harbor after some years and recognizes changes are taking place in the harbor, and in his life. The harbor becomes a subject for his writing and his personal relationships. His attitude about the harbor begins to evolve. Throughout the novel, J.K. continues to make appearances in Billy’s life, challenging him to write about things as they really are and not as Billy’s world of comfort shows them to be. Billy’s life is changed when the harbor goes on strike and he becomes involved in the labor movement. What more can be said about a book that starts with the words, “You Chump!”? (Summary by Tom Weiss)

The fifth-century philosopher Plato was a beloved student of the great philosopher Socrates. In his Allegory of the Cave, Plato reasoned that one is presented with an incredibly distorted view of reality until released from deception by being placed in a clear-eyed position to see absolute truth.

As our lives unfold and present us with various issues requiring decisions, our character matters. Yet, sometimes people choose deceit rather than sound, principled reasoning, and the truth of their deception is never discovered.

In Two Arms and Ten Fingers, three well-respected professionals choose to create a distorted view of reality for their personal gain, only to experience the consequences of their actions. The truth, most times, has a strange habit of coming to light; however, “deceit can be beautiful – just depends on who benefits.”

In Two Arms and Ten Fingers, a doctor, a mortician, and a lawyer make life-changing decisions and share the consequences. Follow their journey from darkness to possible enlightenment.

Something is hunting in Misty Valley—and this time, it isn’t a ghost.
The dead don’t usually ask for help. Well, around me they do.
But when the silent spirit of Sir Nathan Trimbolt appears in my café, I don’t have much choice.
Sir Nathan returned home from the Battle of Waterloo only to be murdered days later. Now he’s cursed to roam the grounds of Trimbolt Manor, unable to rest until he uncovers the truth behind his death. The problem? He remembers almost nothing about how he died.
Rumours swirl that it’s the ghostly hound of the Trimbold mire that killed him.
Locals insist it’s only a legend—an old ghost story tied to the decaying estate at the edge of Misty Valley. But legends don’t stalk the grounds at night. And they don’t leave behind very real signs of violence.
As a fledgling witch in the middle of the Wobblies—that delightful stage where magic misfires more often than it behaves—I’m already struggling to keep my powers under control. A limiter bracelet keeps my magic dampened for everyone’s safety, including my own. Unfortunately, it also means I’m investigating a centuries-old murder and a very present supernatural threat with one hand tied behind my back.
The deeper I dig into the history of Trimbolt Manor, the clearer it becomes that the hound isn’t just haunting the estate.
    It’s guarding something.
And if I make the wrong move, I won’t just condemn a restless spirit to wander forever—I’ll unleash something Misty Valley was never meant to face.
Coffee Grounds and Ghostly Hounds is a gothic-tinged urban fantasy mystery filled with cursed estates, restless spirits, and a witch forced to choose between safety and power. Perfect for readers who enjoy high supernatural stakes wrapped in a cozy mystery atmosphere—where even the quietest ghosts have deadly secrets.
