Beschreibung

It is narrated (and God knows best the true state of the case) by Abu Ali Jafir Bin Yakub-ulisfahani that when, in His determinate Will, The Benefactor had decided to create the Greatest Substitute (Adam), He despatched, as is known, the faithful and the excellent Archangel Jibrail to gather from Earth clays, loams, and sands endowed with various colours and attributes, necessary for the substance of our pure Forefather’s body. Receiving the Command and reaching the place, Jibrail put forth his hand to take them, but Earth shook and lamented and supplicated him. Then said Jibrail: “Lie still and rejoice, for out of thee He will create that than which (there) is no handsomer thing—to wit a Successor and a Wearer of the Diadem over thee through the ages.” Earth said: “I adjure thee to abstain from thy purpose, lest evil and condemnation of that person who is created out of me should later overtake him, and the Abiding (sorrow) be loosed upon my head. I have no power to resist the Will of the Most High, but I take refuge with Allah from thee.” So Jibrail was moved by the lamentations and helplessness of Earth, and returned to the Vestibule of the Glory with an empty hand.

A tortured soul meets a shattered heart...
Chloe Hicks' life consisted of an egocentric ex-husband, a pile of bills, and an equine business in foreclosure until a fire destroys the stable and her beloved ranch horse. Jackson Hahn, Virginia Beach's local historian, has his eyes on the mysterious new woman in town. When she arrives in Pungo, he is struck by her haunting beauty and the raw pain in her eyes. Her descriptions of the odd events happening in her bungalow pique his curiosity.
The sexy historian distracts Chloe with the legend of a woman wrongly accused of witchcraft. She is drawn to the story and the similarities of events that plagued their lives. Perhaps the past can help heal the present. But danger lurks in the shadows...

In the shadow of South Africa’s turbulent history, one family’s story unfolds—bound by the land, haunted by the past, and driven by hope.
Set between 1930 and 1945, this sweeping tale follows Ruth MacLeod, a young woman determined to carve out a life beyond her family’s farm in Limpopo. Burdened by the legacy of the Anglo-Boer War—a conflict that left scars on both the land and the people—Ruth’s journey is one of resilience, independence, and quiet rebellion against the silence that has bound her family for generations.
Through the voices of Lena, a mother torn between duty and dreams; William, a father hardened by his own father’s emotional distance; and the indomitable Magda, a grandmother forged in the fires of survival, the MacLeod family must navigate love, loss, and the shifting sands of a world on the brink of change.
At its heart, this is a story of endurance, of finding beauty in the small moments, and of daring to seek more. As Ruth follows her own path, she carries with her the strength and sacrifices of those who came before her—and the hope of a future that feels just within reach.
Rich with historical detail and emotional depth, The MacLeod Legacy (or your book's title) is a poignant exploration of family, memory, and the ties that bind us to each other—and to the land we call home.

The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper is a thrilling historical adventure and one of the most celebrated novels of early American literature. First published in 1826, this classic tale transports readers to the wilderness of North America during the French and Indian War, a time of conflict, danger, and shifting alliances between European powers and Native American tribes.

Set against the vast forests, rivers, and rugged landscapes of the colonial frontier, the story follows the courageous frontiersman Hawkeye, along with his loyal Mohican companions Chingachgook and his son Uncas. Together, they navigate a world shaped by war and survival, where loyalty, honor, and courage are constantly tested.

The adventure begins when two sisters, Cora and Alice Munro, attempt a dangerous journey through the wilderness to reunite with their father, a British colonel stationed at a distant fort. Their mission quickly turns perilous when they fall into the hands of enemies during the conflict. Hawkeye and his Mohican allies step forward to guide and protect them through the hostile terrain, facing ambushes, betrayals, and fierce battles along the way.

As the journey unfolds, the novel paints a vivid portrait of life on the colonial frontier. Cooper's storytelling captures both the beauty and the harshness of the wilderness while exploring the complex relationships between Native American tribes, European settlers, and military forces during a turbulent period in history.

At the heart of the novel lies the tragic story of the Mohican people, symbolized through the noble characters of Chingachgook and Uncas. Their presence represents a fading culture and a changing world, where ancient traditions struggle to survive amid expanding colonial conflict.

Filled with suspense, dramatic escapes, and memorable characters, The Last of the Mohicans combines action with emotional depth. It explores themes of loyalty, courage, cultural identity, sacrifice, and the clash of civilizations, creating a powerful and enduring narrative.

Renowned for its vivid landscapes and heroic characters, the novel remains a cornerstone of American adventure literature. The Last of the Mohicans continues to captivate readers with its sweeping story of bravery, friendship, and survival in one of the most dramatic eras of early American history.
