Warren Buffett is perhaps the most accomplished investor of all time. The CEO and chair of Berkshire Hathaway has earned admiration for not only his financial feats but also the philosophy behind them. Todd A. Finkle provides striking new insights into Buffett's career through the lens of entrepreneurship. This book demonstrates that although Buffett is thought of primarily as an investor, one of the secrets to his success has been running Berkshire as an entrepreneur.

Finkle—a Buffett family friend—shares his perspective on Buffett's early life and business ventures. The book traces the entrepreneurial paths that shaped Buffett's career, from selling gum door-to-door during childhood to forming Berkshire Hathaway and developing it into a global conglomerate through the imaginative deployment of financial instruments and creative deal making. Finkle considers Buffett's investment methodology, management strategy, and personal philosophy on building a rewarding life in terms of entrepreneurship. He also zeroes in on Buffett's longtime business partner, Charlie Munger, and his contributions to Berkshire's success. Finkle draws key lessons from Buffett's mistakes as well as his successes, using these failures to explore the ways behavioral biases can affect investors and how to overcome them.

The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles has been heir to the British throne since he was three years old.

In this lively and illuminating account, royal biographer Helen Cathcart charts the first thirty years of Prince Charles's life, from his birth at Buckingham Palace in 1948 and rugby-playing schooldays at Gordonstoun, through his undergraduate years cycling to lectures at Trinity College, Cambridge, and subsequent military career in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy.

Cathcart reveals a young man of many interests—actor, polo player, cellist, helicopter pilot, and conservationist—and takes the listener behind the scenes of notable events in the Prince's life, including his investiture as Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle in 1969 and move to Chevening in 1974, before giving insight into his romantic relationships prior to his marriage to Lady Diana Spencer.

Drawing on an extraordinary fund of private material, Charles Before Diana is an intimate portrait of the man behind the Prince—a man with an endearing sense of comedy and a conscientious devotion to duty.

The marriage ended in divorce, and at thirty years old, she married again. Emotionally and financially ready to start a family and with her biological clock ticking, the couple decides to have a child. After months of trying without success, they seek the help of fertility specialists. What follows is a series of unsuccessful attempts to conceive and the discovery that she has ovarian cancer. This book lets the reader accompany her on her emotional journey. Beginning with Chapter 4, QR codes are provided that will direct readers to photos and videos of the topics discussed to tell a story of hope and courage that will surely touch your heart. Jenny Lowe's Saved By Hope is a must-read for couples struggling to get pregnant. The author laments the fact that there is a stigma surrounding infertility, so much so that it's not a topic discussed openly. This book does a great job of creating a compassionate guide to overcoming the humiliation of infertility. With profound honesty, she relates the fear, pain, grief, and hope that springs to life, only to be taken away a few days later. The writing style is casual and informative, with visuals to make the experience more intense. The book opens with Emily Dickinson's "hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul," setting the tone for this well-written and perceptive memoir that should provide comfort to those who need it the most. Highly recommended!

Julius Caesar - The Famous Roman...

Gaius Julius Caesar remains one of the most influential and recognizable figures in history. A brilliant military commander and astute statesman, Caesar played a decisive role in the events that led to the collapse of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire. His life and career were marked by political ambition, military conquests, and transformative reforms that forever changed the Roman world.
Born into a patrician family, Caesar rose to prominence in Roman politics through strategic alliances and persuasive rhetoric. In 60 BC, he formed the First Triumvirate with Marcus Licinius Crassus and Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, known as Pompey. This informal political alliance dominated Roman politics for several years, enabling Caesar to secure the consulship in 59 BC. The Triumvirate sought to advance the interests of the Populares, a political faction advocating for the rights of the common people, in opposition to the Optimates, the conservative faction of the Roman Senate. Powerful senators such as Cato the Younger and orator Cicero resisted Caesar’s growing influence, leading to increased political tensions.
To solidify his power, Caesar launched a series of military campaigns known as the Gallic Wars from 58 BC to 51 BC. These campaigns significantly expanded Roman territory, bringing Gaul (modern-day France and Belgium) under Roman control. Caesar's military success earned him wealth, popularity, and the unwavering loyalty of his legions. His invasion of Britain and the daring construction of a bridge over the Rhine River showcased his strategic prowess and ambition. These victories, however, unsettled Pompey, who grew increasingly aligned with the Senate following Crassus’ death in 53 BC. Fearing Caesar’s rising power, the Senate ordered him to disband his army and return to Rome as a private citizen.

Over the course of her sixty-five-year career, the longest of any female filmmaker, Agnès Varda (1928–2019) wrote and directed some of the most acclaimed films of her era, from her tour de force Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962), a classic of modernist cinema, to the beloved documentary The Gleaners and I (2000) four decades later. She helped to define the French New Wave, inspired an entire generation of filmmakers, and was recognized with major awards at the Cannes, Berlin, and Venice Film Festivals, as well as an honorary Oscar at the Academy Awards.

In this lively biography, Carrie Rickey explores the "complicated passions" that informed Varda's charmed life and indelible work. Rickey traces Varda's three remarkable careers—as still photographer, as filmmaker, and as installation artist. She explains how Varda was a pioneer in blurring the lines between documentary and fiction, using the latest digital technology and carving a path for women in the movie industry. She demonstrates how Varda was years ahead of her time in addressing sexism, abortion, labor exploitation, immigrant rights, and race relations with candor and incisiveness. And she delves into Varda's incredibly rich social life with figures such as Harrison Ford, Jean-Luc Godard, Jim Morrison, Susan Sontag, and Andy Warhol, and her nearly forty-year marriage to the celebrated director Jacques Demy.
