Beschreibung

'If we lived only in worlds of spirit, as we do between death and a new birth, we would never be able to acquire freedom there. It is something we can only achieve by our efforts within the physical world...' – Rudolf Steiner Rudolf Steiner's lucid account of our current phase of evolution focuses on the threefold human being and the significance of incarnation on Earth. In a nuanced presentation, he supports the modern scientific outlook but highlights the urgent need to broaden it, emphasizing the importance of balance in thinking, feeling and will. Withdrawing into abstract intellectualism while letting feeling and will run amok, leads to unconscious egotism and, ultimately, the War of All Against All. In place of nebulous mysticism or narrow materialism, Steiner calls on us to bring our thoughts, feelings and actions under conscious self-control so that – for our benefit and society as a whole – we can live our lives with clarity, far-sightedness and purpose.  Intrinsic to this reassessment of ourselves and our place in the universe is a recognition of death as a gateway to continuing existence. Only by acknowledging our journey into the afterlife and our return to earth (reincarnation) will we take charge of a truly human evolution.  This previously-unpublished course of lectures – released in tandem with the twin course in CW 205 – features an introduction by Matthew Barton, notes and an index. Eleven lectures, Dornach; July–Aug. 1921, GA 206

Too often, fatness has been viewed as a moral failing. Fat Christian women in particular are shamed and marginalized by the message that they are failing God because they can't change their bodies. More of You will challenge that status quo, teaching listeners to resist the shame and guilt that is pressed onto them by the world and instead to embrace their bodies, take up space, and learn to navigate the world in ways that allow them to flourish.

With wit and candor, Amanda Martinez Beck, a fat woman herself, compiles her hard-won wisdom to give the skinny on thriving in a fat body to others who have been pushed to the margins of acceptance. Offering helpful tools like The Fat Girl's Bill of Rights and a script for a weight-neutral doctor's visit, this book addresses real needs in the fat acceptance community, from how to find self-love in a thin-obsessed world, to navigating a world built for butts smaller than yours, to advocating for equality and justice for fat women's medical care.

I had a crush on Evan King when we were kids. If I’m being totally honest, I had a crush on him all throughout high school, too.
I hadn’t seen him in years, and then out of nowhere, we had a chance encounter on the beach in Galveston. I was anxious to see him, but we connected under less than ideal circumstances. Evan had been through a lot, and I considered getting in touch with him after that. But in the end, I decided not to.
It was a twist of fate, an act of God that brought us together over a year later. I was convinced it was destiny this time.
    Thankfully, so was he.

Twenty-first-century how-to advice embracing and celebrating the nonbiological parent and his or her "bonus" children, from the author of the internationally bestselling Understanding Your Child series, and host of New Life Live!, the nation's number one Christian call-in counseling show.

Most of the parenting books currently in circulation were written decades ago. Therefore, they do not address—nor could they address—all the issues parents face today in the era of technology and excess. Parents do not need another article that contradicts the last one they read; rather, they need insights, techniques, and strategies to tackle the pressing issues of twenty-first-century parenting. That's what the Understanding and Loving Your Child series of books will do.

Understanding and Loving Your Bonus Child takes a look at a very familiar family dynamic. Not being the biological parent to your spouse’s child doesn’t mean you don’t have a voice. This book helps celebrate the role of a bonus parent in a child's life.

A Clear and Concise Exploration of the Doctrine of Justification from Thomas R. Schreiner
When we see the fallenness of the world, it is often challenging to understand how sinners can stand before a holy God, but the gospel gives hope—justification that comes through Jesus Christ. This doctrine is essential to the gospel but has sparked countless academic and theological disagreements throughout church history, even contributing to the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century.
In this addition to the Short Studies in Systematic Theology series, Thomas R. Schreiner examines the biblical and historical background of the doctrine of justification. Schreiner explores it throughout church history and analyzes both the Old and New Testament teachings. By examining the relationship between justification and other doctrines of salvation—such as redemption, reconciliation, adoption, and sanctification—Schreiner shows how it gives peace, assurance, and joy to sinners through Jesus and hope for life today.
