The Black Arrow: A Tale of Two Roses by Robert Louis Stevenson is a historical novel set during the tumultuous Wars of the Roses in 15th-century England. He encounters John Matcham, who is actually Joanna Sedley, an heiress kidnapped by Sir Daniel and disguised as a boy. As Dick and Joanna develop feelings for each other, they become entangled in a web of intrigue and danger.
