Beschreibung

In "Still'ÄîWilliam," Richmal Crompton invites readers back into the vibrant world of William Brown, a mischievous schoolboy whose adventures capture the essence of childhood innocence and rebellion. The narrative is marked by Crompton's signature wit and humor, interwoven with vivid descriptions and relatable characters that explore themes of friendship, family, and the bittersweet nature of growing up. The book shines as a quintessential piece of British children's literature from the early 20th century, reflecting societal norms and educational practices while also revealing the timeless escapades of youth. Richmal Crompton (1890-1969) was an English author whose own childhood experiences and educational challenges informed her portrayal of William Brown. With a background in both literature and teaching, Crompton wrote "Still'ÄîWilliam" as part of the much-loved William series, which resonated with her contemporary readers seeking both laughter and a reflection of their own youthful antics. Her writing is characterized by a profound understanding of children's behavior and a keen observational style that highlights the contradictions inherent in growing up. I highly recommend "Still'ÄîWilliam" to anyone who appreciates the charm of classic children's literature, as well as to educators and parents aiming to understand the dynamics of childhood. Crompton'Äôs delightful narrative not only entertains but also imparts valuable insights into the complexities of youth, making it a must-read for both children and adults alike.

In this book, Pastor Craig tackles a raw and deeply personal issue that many of us face: How do I find the strength and faith to start over after experiencing one of life’s toughest challenges? He refers to these moments as “life-altering events.” To shed light on this topic, Pastor Craig examines the lives, experiences, and lessons of four well-known biblical figures: Job, Ruth, the Samaritan woman (also known as the Woman at the Well), and Mary of Magdala. You’ll quickly realize that these biblical heroes are not so different from many of us. Their inspiring stories of overcoming the unimaginable, with God’s help, will motivate you to embark on your own journey of renewal. Pastor Craig also addresses contemporary challenges such as divorce, church hurt, betrayal, molestation, and the process of rebuilding your professional reputation after a career disaster. Prepare yourself for an impactful journey. It is Pastor Craig’s prayer that you see your own struggles reflected in these characters’ stories and that you find the divine healing and guidance from our Lord Jesus Christ to help you start over and live a victorious, renewed life.

When 12-year-old Kolby wakes up in an empty white room, he has no memory, no clothes, and no idea where he is. He soon discovers he’s one of a dozen kids living in an extravagant penthouse atop the tallest tower in the city. Adults are nowhere to be found, and, like Kolby, all the kids are missing their memories. The kids in the tower spend their time scaling the climbing wall, riding a waterslide into an Olympic-sized swimming pool, or playing video games on the 105-inch 8K video screen. A mysterious “manifesting room” magically provides both food and rewards. They have virtually everything a kid could want.

    Except a way out.

None of the kids show much concern for each other, let alone new arrival Kolby. Haunted by fragments of memories he can’t quite understand, Kolby just wants to escape the penthouse and go home.

Unfortunately, the only way to get out is by participating in the tower’s enigmatic game—a kind of scavenger hunt that takes place in the surrounding city. Players are chosen for teams by the tower’s apparent leader, Gen. But beneath her glib detachment, Gen harbors a secret—she knows more about the tower than she lets on, including the dark, inevitable truth about all their fates. When game time arrives, it looks like Kolby has found his ticket out of the tower—but escape isn’t so simple.

One dark, stormy night a single bolt of lightning struck two things at the same time.
One was a top secret AWACS plane on its final approach to Boeing Field. The huge aircraft was bucking turbulent head winds, heavy rain, and occasional lightning. The other was a trash dumpster behind a fast food place, where a homeless woman was headed to look for any left-over hamburgers. The metal was hot and steaming when she first looked inside.
Suddenly, she saw movement under some newspaper and carefully lifted one corner to see what was under there...
It was a cardboard box full of dead—oh, no! Who would do such a thing? But wait—one of them was still alive! Its eyes were sparking and cracking like electricity and its hair was standing up all over.
“Don't worry little fella,” she said as she picked him up. “I'll get you outta here.”
Which is exactly what caused a chain of unusual events to pop—just like popcorn—from one end of that city to the other.
    And his name was Barnaby.
